Go to SMOGRFG for some interesting insight into the titling issue relating to Cobra's and other replica cars. An overview of the Titles Unlimited fiasco is included - apparently the Titles guy is spending a year in jail - perhaps he is out by now. Anyway, apparently 150 Cobras in CAL are involved in the Titles Unlimited deal and some huge fines have been assessed. Of those 150, my Cobra is one, so either I'm totally screwed or, more than likely - an innocent buyer from out of state. Re-titling in CAL will be a long strange trip. By the way, I had no knowledge that anything was "happening" in CAL when I purchased the car - just in case someone from the DMV monitors this site. |

I don't think the DMV monitors this site, but CA AG Morgester does (ya know, the guy who authored the TU presentation and prosecuted Weaver), just in case you didn't already know...[/quote]
Well, isn't that special. I thinking that I'm OK on the liability end. The hassle end is going to be a bummer. I can always just park it in a big barn that's already on the property that I will be living on in Sonora. But, this whole thing is very telling of how it is in California - no indication of common sense. On the other hand, people that lie about the value of a replica deserve to be fined when that fact surfaces. With that said, silly limits on SP100 numbers tends to make everyone involved appear to be or look like or act like a fool with the real source the California government. |
