Green original?
Duane, do you (or anyone else) happen to know the CSX number for this green original car? I think he lives in Grass Valley, or Rescue.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...aOct06_007.jpg Thanks jdog:) P.S. I also can't recall the gentleman's name, I should have written it down.:o |
This color looks a lot like Superformance's Malachite Green. I am in the market for a Superformance and there is a local green one for sale. I haven't been wild about it because it didn't look "real" enough. If this is an original color, maybe I should reconsider.

Malachite green is not close the green in the picture. That car is Ivy Green. It was a color option in 65 and 66 (maybe other years too?)
I had SPF paint my car Ivy Green. It was a bear getting the paint code though. My car looks a lot like the one in jdogs picture. |
It's original
It's original, all right!
This photo was taken last weekend at the monthly Norcal Cobra club breakfast on Sutter st. in old town Folsom, Ca. I ate breakfast with the owner, a very friendly gentlemen, although I can't recall his name just now. He lives in the Sierra foothills above Sacramento someplace. He has owned the car since 1969! jdog P.S. I apologize right now to the owner for not remembering the CSX number or his name!:o My bad!:( |
My guess is CSX3142. Just a pure guess :)
|
lets see some more pics jdog, including the Kirkham next to it.
thanks, |
A friend of mine had a green street version he sold in 1969. That looks like it may be an S/C, and I guess it could have been converted. I wonder if he bought it from Champaign,Il?

JBCOBRA,
I looked at your car in the gallery. Your car is drop dead gorgeous!! It must be the vagueries of digital cameras - the green looks different than the original shown in the first post. Also, I love your "street" version. My wife would really prefer that I get one of these. She is not so keen to burn her legs on sidepipes. Your green reminds me of an original 289 a kid in my high school borrowed from his dad from time to time. Its been a while - I don't remember if it was this exact color. I wonder if this is the same green used on 289s? Jack |
Hi Jack!
Thank you so much. My wife loves the car. I got the rear exhaust for her. Cheap insurance for me! LOL JB ;) |

James,
I remember your car when it was for sale. I live in Atlanta so it would have been so convenient for me. I never looked at the car because of the motor. It looks like a spectacular, well engineered piece. But I am not much of a mechanic and I was concerned about maintaining it. I need an easily serviced reliable car and if there were any issues with the one off motor I would be up the creek. Peoples jaws must drop when they see the motor in your car!! Jack (JDOG - Sorry to hijack your thread. I don't know the CSX number of the green Cobra.) |
Jdog...........his name is Ray
|
Hey Jdog,
So much for posting a NorCal question on the NorCal forum, huh? Your best bet is to give Duane a call if he doesn't post. If he doesn't know I'm pretty certain he can direct you. Good luck ;) |
Interior
Thanks Ed, I believe it was Ray.:)
Phil, I'm sorry I couldn't make the drive with you today. The weather is absolutely gorgeous! Ray has a beautiful car, I'll post the CSX number as soon as I get it. Here is a picture of the interior: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...aOct06_009.jpg jdog:) P.S. Phil, I'm in no big hurry, Duane will find this post eventually. Or I get the number from someone else. |
Kirkham

Jdog,
It's Ray Shepherd from Penn Valley. He's a celebrity now since WSCB 2005. You can view his interview on the WSCB 2005 video. |
The car is csx 3225. The car is a street car. Originally had a 428 engine. Changed the color from Ivy Green to Tropic Green Firemist (1968 Cadillac color as I remember) in 1970. Repainted the car in my garage in 1980. Now has Trigo wheels, 427 S/O, Konis, front sway bar, hood scope and side exhaust.
Purchased the car in 1968 with 9,000 miles and used it as my everyday car for the next 4 years adding about 48,000 miles. Did some drag racing, slalom and rallying on weekends. Put 1,400 miles on the car during our honeymoon. Sat in storage for a number of years while I worked overseas. Now has about 77,000 miles. Ray Shepherd |
Hi Ray.
I was glad to meet you at Folsom and see that great original. Maurice Lawrence |
