Screen/Grill Protection for Radiator
Are there any metal screens available to protect the radiator from bugs/stones/road debris?

My car came with one. Apparently it was installed by the dealer, because it was included in the order form that I got when I bought it. After looking at it, it wouldn't be a big deal to have a window/screen shop fabricate one. Mine is held in place with velcro and works great. I would be happy to measure mine tonight and pm you tomorrow.

See this thread:

I'm pretty happy with the "garbage can" method (see thread). I've attached the screen with a few screws that are very inconspicuous as well as a few patches of velcro.

Just did my radiator and oil cooler. Stainless steel mesh from Pegasus racing 36" x 36" with some left over.

I have seen them on the olthoff site under the goodies section. They want $200 for one, but it does look very nice.

BX1:
Try this site: http://www.vintage-motorsports.com/s...4&cat=0&page=1
It is Vintage Racing a BDR dealer. Jay charges $36 for a screen and velcro system. It's fine for luvbugs in Florida, but will not stop a rock. Can be removed easily for cleaning. Jay is quick to respond to emails, you may want to check to make sure the size will fit yor car.

Bx...I made my own from an 18" x 18" (approx...measured to fit my radiator) square of 1/4" steel mesh and then used 1/8" x 3/4" aluminum strips to build a frame and attach it to the radiator. It stands about 1/2" above the radiator.
I have added a couple of pics in my gallery if you want to take a look!

I have the Olthoff screen on my SPF. Recommended and it works. I hit a sparrow or other similar sized bird. W/O the screen I think the radiator would have been pierced or otherwise damaged, the screen was pulled from the frame. The little fella would have broken the windscreen. Of course, I was running at sufficient speed.

Olthoff Screen
http://www.olthoff-racing.com/goodies.php?start=0
Mine came with it installed. Give them a call and they can give you the dimensions if you want to install in a non-SPF car.
It is really heavy duty. At 100 MPH, if a bird flew in the opening, I doubt there would be any damage to the radiator or the screen ... the bird would be toast ....

Hmmm toasted bird, maybe I will give it a try....
I made a screen for my SPF but the flex in the screen touches the radiator at speed or if hit by an object. I want to avoid that.
Thanks for your info.
