Need a head count! Dinner drive!
OK - Looking into an alternative to our usual breakfast run, Steve and I drove around last Sunday and found a great place for a dinner drive! The restaurant is called Wendell's just outside of Jackson (close to 49 and 26). It's the one with the helicopter on the roof! The date, Sep. 20th around 5:30pm. The drive in from virtually ALL directions looks like a lot of fun! We get there, eat, and head out in our own directions.
Let's get a head count to see who is interested! Count so far: 2 Cobras, 4 adults |
Sounds like a great alternative. I remember seeing that place everytime we head that way.
So 2 more here. Danny |
I wanna go
Great idea. I've always wondered about that place too. Cool parking lot area as well.
Count me in, I'll be on vacation that week and I'll try to make it if I don't have to go out of town that weekend. Duane |
Rats!
ZL-1 and Steve...
Thanks for getting this together. Unfortunately we already have major plans for that evening, so we are not able to attend. We have taken the ride to Mokelumne Hill from Ione many times and it's always fun. I'm still up to meet for breakfast somewhere if anyone else is so inclined or just hardcore enough to do both. If not, see ya all next time. Bob |
Duane, be a nice little tune up for CH1......
|
Danny,
That's what I was kind of thinking... :D |
Sorry to say we're going to miss this one. We always enjoy the fall dinners in the Gold Country... maybe do another in October? We're going to be over on the PCH ahead of CH1, which we also have to pass on (will be in the Fort Bragg area on the 25th).

This is also under a separate post.
If anybody is interested in a breakfast meet on the 20th, my friend owns a restaurant/pub in Folsom and has offered to open just for us. We would have it and the parking lot to ourselves. He will cook for us, nothing too fancy just eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, French toast and coffee. We could also bring in donuts if there was interest. The name is Manderes and is located at: 402 East Bidwell Folsom, CA 916/986-9655 Say 8:00 to 11:00? If there is enough interest lets start a head count. Buy the way he has 20 taps of fine crafted beers and about 150 bottles from all over the world, you won't find Bud or Coors here! Just for future reference. |
Hey Hey Hey - Breakfast in Folsom followed by a break, then a Dinner drive in the Cobras later that day, what else could anyone in Northern California ask for!
|
I may be wrong, but I think Wendell's is for sale, not sure they are actually open. Did you guys go in? eat or drink? You might want to check.
I can't make it that night but breakfast sounds good, count (2) of us in. Maybe beer, no tequila. ED |
is this the place >?
Wendell's Restaurant 9036 Center Street Mokelumne Hill, California 95245 County: Calaveras |
Yep, that's the place. I called and got an automated response - according to the message, they are opened Tuesdays through Saturdays. Something opens at 3pm, but the restaurant opens at 5pm.
I'll call again on Tuesday and try to speak to a human! Jim |
OK - Just got off the phone with Liz. Wendell's is OPEN on Saturday the 20th! The bar opens at 3pm, and the restaurant opens at 5pm.
So, back to getting a head count for dinner... The dinner bell is ringing - let's see who is coming for dinner! Jim |
Good news! Thanks ZL-1! Sounds like fun, something different while the weather and daylite are still good! Maybe we could meet up around 4 pm and caravan thru the foothills. Arrive somewhere near 5pm.
|
Hey, sorry for the scare on whether Wendells is open or not. Sounds like they are very open! Have a great drive, ED
|
Sounds like a great time...but...we already have plans for that weekend...we'll be seeing you at CH-1 the following week...can't hardly contain myself.
Tom |
Come on guys! That's only 5 for dinner so far. Looks like the breakfast suggestion completely hyjacked this event.
Let's see if we can get at least 10 to show up. |
O.K. guys..... Post up if you are coming, so the resturant and be advised of an aprox number of people to expect. I've noticed that a few guys respond to posted events, and a lot of people show up. It's not that hard to say you are, or aren't coming. We should give them a few days notice, not just show up, the way many do for the breakfasts.
|
The wife and I are still a go.
|
I might attend both the breakfast and dinner... I will know definitively in a few days....
