Sounds great Duane. I heard that is a popular biker run down the river road.

decooney 04-12-2009 09:49 PM

It's a good run

Danny,
Yeah, that's where I learned about it. Pretty fun runs on the bikes.

About 13 years ago we did more than a few bike runs to isleton for the crawdad festival, stopping in the town of Locke at "Al The Wops" bar (throw a dollar to the ceiling) followed by a crazy group departure with some ridiculous and very stupid crowd pleaser burnouts outta there. About 20 bikes, one at a time, one crazy 1/2 town burnout with every bike. I'll never forget it, people all waiting for us to leave, then going out side with them all ligning up all down sides next to the very narrow street or some standing up on the rails cheering everyone on knowing what was about to happen. Oh my gosh, it was just insane and very stupid, but I will never forget it. Never again though.

Danny / John,
We gotta warn the ladies about Fosters in Rio Vista though. Some who may not know what it is could get offended or upset when they see what's in there. Requires explanation before entering. You might want to share that before we go in there - just a heads up

Clayboy 04-13-2009 08:38 AM

A "heads up" about Foster's would definately be in order...

On the 5th Becca and I drove up the river road from Walnut Grove to Freeport and had lunch at Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course in Freeport. We hit all the major cities... Locke, Courtland, Hood, and then across the river to the "Old Sugar Mill" in Clarksburg. Beautiful day and a great drive. Saturday should be fun.

The high temperature forecast for Saturday is 85°!! It's summer time.

So, whats up with Foster's? Should we avoid it this trip?

John

Danny Fong 04-13-2009 01:45 PM

Let's just say if your an animal rights person, you may not want to walk in...

PatBuckley 04-13-2009 06:47 PM

Why? Do they have deer heads mounted on the walls?

PatBuckley 04-13-2009 06:48 PM

How about the Ryde Hotel....great place for brunch.

Its quite a sight pat. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but its something you won't ever see too many other places in the world, nor anyone would ever be allowed again in our lifetime to repeat what has been placed there, I would think.

decooney 04-13-2009 11:15 PM

Danny, John:

Since it's going to be so warm, don't you think we should leave early or eat early and high tail it outta Folsom? I hate to push everyone so early, but it could be really nice if we drive down there in cool weather along the river.

Let us know -

Eat time?
Departure time?

wanab5150 04-14-2009 11:43 AM

If this is some kind of weird, kinky place that would create controversy and offend people then…….Deb says she’s in.

On the other hand, due to my sensitive nature, I may have to stay in the car, but I’ll go. tom

I dont think I will be able to make it this week... but please try to have a good time without me....(if you can):LOL:

Sounds like a great day for a ride! See you guys in Folsom @ 9am.

fosters

Got a few emails and questions about Fosters. Did not expect it would create worry or confusion. Rather than scare any folks into not wanting to come on the drive, there is no secret about Fosters in Rio Vista. It's just a collection of animal heads hunted from around the world decades ago, placed all up and down the bar/restaurant. Much of this was collected before it was outlawed.

If you like looking at old, rare, extinct, strange and withered away animal heads, there is no place around like Fosters - that's for sure. It is a bit eerie though.

Mr Monster 04-15-2009 06:04 AM

Did someone say whithered away animal heads? I'll be there.

jperickson2001 04-15-2009 09:32 PM

Wish Deb and I could go but we will be here being instructed on how to hit a 500 yard target all day with high power rifles. :LOL:http://www.appleseedinfo.org/

Catch you all next time!

I thought you were going to say, then you'll love the NorCal group members!

Although I'd love to visit Fosters this weekend, I'll be in Phoenix this weekend visiting my son, so I can't make this one.

We'll be at Phoenix International Raceway watching NASCAR's Subway Fresh Fit 500 race. :D

Cheers,
Jim M

John, Danny:
So do you think about 20 cars gonna show up for breakfast and about 10 on the drive, or more?

jrjmac1 04-16-2009 10:47 PM

Hey Duane,
Sounds reasonable, I met with Denise, the owner of Mooney's today. She said they are very excited about us coming there on Saturday and they are ready to accommodate us any way we need. Great parking and the photographer will be there too.

Maybe this time we can split more into groups and not overwhelm the cook all at once, even if we don't she said they can handle it.

See everyone on Saturday around 9:00 AM or a bit sooner.

John

GT390FE 04-16-2009 11:25 PM

Hey John,
Dan & Karen will be there too so add another 2 heads to the list:3DSMILE:

I probably will skip the drive, I want to work on the Cobra and get some more done. The Cobra is about 90% wired and I fired the engine too so she runs:):):) see you Saturday morning
D&K
P.S. this place is across from the DMV in Folsom right ?
