Third Saturday in April Breakfast
A new Pub opened up in Folsom recently. For those of you that are familiar with Folsom, it is where Bailies used to be on East Bidwell St.
The new owners would love to host our breakfast in April. They will be closed to the public for our meeting and the food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Parking is ideal, there is plenty of room for us to park "in-line" in front of the restaurant and they are arranging for a professional photographer to capture the event. He is also willing to give us access to his photographs. What do you guys think?? John |
When will I ever get there.....??
John, sounds like a rare opportunity to hang out together with some degree of security and the photos sound awesome!! I'm still sorting out my cooling system which allows overheating in city driving and it looks like so far my best option is going to be changing over my shroud and 16" fan to a SPAL 40 amp double 12" to gain enough CFM. Trouble is, on my WC it will be a whole day of labor to remove and install IF it goes smoothly and I have yet to order it, so I guess I'm out another great Norcal opportunity... :(
Is that spot close enough to a major freeway that I could buzz up on the big road and get off for a VERY short stop and go? What's the name of the place? Thanks! Dirk |
Hi Dirk,
The location is freeway close (the 50 & Bidwell exit) and the name of the place is "Mooney's". It's named after the owner's dog! |
I think that sounds great - thanks John!

Johnny Mac, event planner. Do I sense a new career?
This is probably the earliest a NorCal breakfast has been planned since I can remember. Sounds great John, we'll be there. Bob |
Clayboy, better watch out, If were not careful John's going to have us paying dues soon. I can see it now.....The EDH Cobra Assn. Sign us up for Mooney's!
Did you find us that new club house yet! If you do....I'm in! tom |
Look who's talking, Tom organizes a great picnic after we were rained out, and doesn't show up! Welcome back Tom. Hey if you havn't heard the new bridge is open.
John ps. I'll deal with Claybob later. |
Sounds great, I'm in!

We have a "North Bay Cobras" breakfast or lunch each first Sunday of the month and I met John Marsey at one of them recently over in Sonoma, so I at least know someone in your group. He was kind enough to help me with a timing issue I was having on my 418W build a couple of weeks back. Really nice guy! I would really like to come over and check out the breakfast and "visit" you guys and gals if it's not so early I would have trouble getting to it in time from Petaluma, or freeze my a@# off trying. What's the time, address, and directions for someone like me that is only barely familiar with Sacremento and getting around there? Maybe I can find a big thick blanket to wrap up in for the early morning drive over there. Don |
It's pretty easy to find. The address is 312 E Bidwell, Folsom.
If you can find your way to Tahoe, Bidwell is off Hwy 50. You will pass Hazel and Folsom Blvd...then start looking for Bidwell. I would have waited for John (jrjmac1) to tell you but frankly...he has a hard time even finding the bathroom at night! It' a sad thing! On a lighter note...Is Steve Hood still the Police Chief there? If so , ask him about the time he chased loose dogs around a Salinas neighborhood at 3AM and woke up the owners just to cite them for the loose dogs.....I think he drew a complaint on that one. He was a rookie at the time of course. I wish he would have come back to Salinas PD to be the chief there. He turned out to be a great leader. tom |
Tom beat me to it!
Mooney's Restaurant & Bar 312 East Bidwell Street Folsom, CA 916-983-5500 Forcast for Saturday 18th is 77 degrees, perfect Cobra weather. Meet at Mooney's around 9:00 AM? The Photographer will be there. Tom, bring your gear there will be rooftop access. A good possibility for some great photo's. John |
John, What's the use of slamming you if you're not going to fire back. You used to be fun......fine!
|
Just show up with your camera...Ansel.

Duane mentioned about doing a delta ride. Sounds like a nice drive after breakfast and photoshoot. Weather looks like it's going to be great too.
Let's see what everyone thinks this coming week. Danny |
We havn't done a ride after breakfast for a long time, mainly due to chilly weather. Sounds like a great idea and the forecast is for sunny/77 deg. :D

John/Danny,
Just for grins I took a ride down to the Delta last weekend to check it out. It's been a long time since I came across highway 12, and all those Windmills! Amazing Giant Windmills right off the road. I'm not very familiar with that area, so someone else can lead, etc. :) Might want to decide if we want to go down 80, or down on the River run, and/or return back over East coming back or a different way for some different scenery. Maybe you guys can think about that or someone other than I will know that area and come up with a drive plan. I'm kinda focused on CH1 right now getting the agreement revised and some other planning, as you know. I would be game for going on this run now, but need to check the car out a bit. Do either/any of you have a nice drive route plan in mind that integrates those Windmills on 12 and the River Delta too? If you wanna see something really weird, we could have everyone stop in at "Fosters" in the town of Rio Vista there and stare at the walls and ceiling for a few minutes - if either of you know what that's about. Some may not wanna see that but its definitely a sight and something you wont ever forget. :) |
I can give you guys an update on CH1 too when we meet. Club invite goes out next week.
|
Hey Duane, a co-worker of mine mentioned Fosters in Rio Vista. He said it's something to check out. I don't know my ways around there either but driving down the River Delta route sounds great. We can probably stop by the town of Locke along the way, which I believe is close to Hwy 12.
I'm sure there's gotta be someone who knows their ways around there. |
Thanks!

I do however plan on being at the May 2nd car show up at Yuba College, so perhaps I'll get to meet some of you guys up there. As for the Police chief here: Yes, it is still Steve Hood. I do not know him personally but if I do ever meet him I'll remember to "carefully" mention the humorous "doggie incident" you noted and hopefully he will not arrest me for reminding him of it (lol). Thanks again, Don |
John/Danny,
I've been looking at the River Run and South River Road paths to Rio Vista on Google Earth. I use to take these routes with friends on the Harley runs but it's been so long. In some places you jump back and forth across the river. I'm trying to figure out the best exit from highway 50 or 80. River Road dead ends in a few places, but it looks like on Google Earth you can take Jefferson Blvd exit, then go South and turn left onto South River Road. Once you get on the River road, you can take it al the way to Rio Vista through the different towns. The issue with going the South road is you miss some of the towns and its hard to get back to the other side. I'm checking with a friend now to see if there is a "best way to go". Duane |
