Default Skagit cruise 2002

We are planning on doing the Skagit Cruise & BBQ again this year on July 29th. It's a bit early, but wanted to get it on the calendar. That week end is still purported to be the best weather "window" (last year not withstanding) of the summer. As the time gets closer I'll fill in the details.

We had 12 Cobras and a chase SUV last year and everyone seemed to enjoy the run and the socializing, so make plans to come.

Question Monday Monday?

Or, Pizza Pizza.

Hey Bish... I went to mark my calendar and see that the 29th is a Monday. Whats up?

Count me in on Saturday Saturday or Sunday Sunday. But Monday Monday? Nope, couldn't stand the thought of missing work!

Cool Count us in

What is the general drive route, and where does it end? Sunday is always the best day cause my babe works most M-F

That is, if I survive the first 90 + days with my poisson girl (Cobra)

Well,..All I can tell you for sure is that we will stay mostly in Skagit county, maybe a little Whatcom or a little Snohomish, but basically we will hit all the high spots in Skagit county, lol! The River, the river road, Concrete, LaConner, Big Lake. It's too soon to tell what the route will be yet, but it will be 100 to 125 miles and it will end in a BBQ at my place. My place is just east of Mount Vernon near SR 9 in an area called Big Lake.

I just have not really thought about the route yet, but from the reaction of the guys last year, I would say you can count on running the South Skagit Highway.

Cheers,

Bish

Hi Bish, I'm here! Just stopped at home on my way back from a meeting in Renton this morning to grab the Cobra and head back to work.

I can't wait for the next Skagit Cruise.

Fred, "too much winter"...bah!

Cool Sounds like fun

Look forward to it...I should have my *poisson* girl for 90 days by then. (I have those plates already)

Latest goodie my manufacturer is installing is a complete Strange Engineering posi/modular differential, 31 spline 3.00 gear set, and Pro Street axles, all new bearings, etc... (9 inch Ford! )

Checking into the Centerforce 2 dual friction system also, the standard WCC setup is the Centerforce original.

The brake discs are going to be vented and cross drilled, carbon fiber pads. Power ABS.

Man , it's getting good

You guys will love my other sweetie, Susan...she's the nicest lady on the planet, pretty and has brains too...she's a treat. Loves high performance bikes and cars, and I bought her a Kawasaki 250 Super Sherpa Enduro last summer, she's learning to ride trails and such now. She's a good co pilot too.

Bish,

We're all here just waiting for spring.
Started to respond to your Bow Tie comment but thought the better of it.

July 28th is on the books! Thanks.

Exclamation Mad Man

Rich,

You've gone mad. I just got back from my 12 mile bike ride, and it is butt posterior cold out there (37 here).

Stop over to my place soon... you need help (or is that I need help?)

Talking Freezin' yer A** off in the NW

We run 2.5 miles at night, 5 or 6 days a week, freezing cold sometimes, but your body gets used to it, conditioned. I also use my 650 Suzuki enduro to run many errands in the cold months, as long as it's not raining, even on cold days.
Having said that, there is nothing like a hot clear summer day in the NW. This is going to be MY summer, two

Big block Fords rule. But I love Chevy motors too, especially the small blocks. I am confused, as you can clearly see

I admit it's a little chilly out there (38). But jeez, in my younger days I could ski all day in 10 degree weather. This isn't all that different. Okay, Dockers don't quite cut the wind like my North Face heli-suit and a Club Cobra baseball hat doesn't keep my ears as warm as an alpaca sherpa hat, but hey, you only go around once and gotta grab that Cobra ride any time you can. Think about your pre-Cobra life. You would have killed to drive a Cobra today. Keep that excitement alive.

Believe it or not, I'm the only person I saw today in a convertable with the top down, much less a Cobra.

Rich,

I gotta hand it to ya, you are proof of the old adage; "Man is not a rational being, he is instead, a rationalizing being." The big difference 'tween skiing and Cobra-ing is you tend to work up a little body heat while skiing. That big smile just ain't gonna give you any heat! To tell the truth I would have gone for a ride today too had I had the new throttle linkage finished...tomorrow will be my day.

Back in Black,

Do you really think you will get your car by summer? I'll bet you are going nuts. And by the way, sb chevs do rule, at least in Skagit county. So, what the heck does Back in Black mean?

Roger,

Let's do another Pizza or what ever thing.

Violent shivering also creates body heat.

Talking Heh heh

LOL @ Rich: "Violent shivering also creates body heat."

What about a cobra heater with a nice flex tube from that, running up your pants leg?

Things are progressing, and the agreed delivery date was April. Still expecting it by the end of April at this point..it's a full turnkey, and yes, it's hard to wait, but my new motorcycles are taking some of the pain of waiting away
Back in Black was a nickname I developed due to my martial arts affiliations and training, and last summer Susan and I bought black leather German racing suits, great for biking OR cold weather cobra cruising. I was off bikes for years, so now I am *Back in Black*

My babe just bought me a silk scarf to go with mine too

Bish - Thanks for putting a line in the sand so early and coming up with a date. I am really sorry that I had missed last year's event as I heard it was a great event.

I'll mark it on my schedule today and plan around it!

Thanks again! Steve

Yes, and my wife has authorized the lady in question to handle all my hardware at West Coast. That is my engine in the background, and yes, it's BIG (514 CI)

"Got breather caps?"

Any questions?
