Thumbs up 2019 Northwest Club Cobra Summer Cruise

I am organizing the summer cruise for NW Club Cobra. We’re doing another Oregon Coastal Cruise . Please see the following for all the details:

When: Friday July 26 thru Sunday July 28, 2019

Where: Starting in Lakewood, WA – at the McDonald’s parking lot off SR512 and I-5 (10417 Pacific Hwy SW, Tacoma, WA 98499), ending in Florence, Oregon. I plan to be at McDonald’s no later than 8 AM.

What: This will be 3 days of more fun filled Cobra adventure! The plan is to leave the Park & Ride on Fri. July 26 @ 9 AM. We will head South towards Montesano and then down to Astoria OR. Montesano will be a Pitstop (fuel and potty break) and Dismal Nitch Rest Area (along the Columbia River just before we cross over the bridge to Astoria) will be a potty break. We will then continue to Seaside, Oregon where we will stay at the Hi-Tide Oceanfront Inn. We should arrive in Seaside around lunch time. You can then explore all that Seaside has to offer. We can make reservations somewhere for a group dinner if you are interested.

Saturday, July 27, 2019 we will leave Seaside as a group and head South on the Coast Hwy 101 to Tillamook where we will stop for a tour of the Tillamook Dairy & sample fresh cheese, & ice cream. Our next stop is Newport, Oregon for lunch. A great place to eat is the Newport Café. Once back on the road, we'll travel to Florence, Oregon. which is the final destination. Our accommodations are at the River House Inn. There will be plenty of time to explore Old Town Florence and take in all the local attractions or hit the Three Rivers Casino to pay for the cruise. We can plan on a group dinner at one of the restaurants or the casino. If anybody has some thoughts or recommendations for dinner, please post.

Sunday, July 28, 2019 we will leave Florence at 8:30 AM and head back up Hwy 101 to Waldport, Oregon where we leave Hwy 101 and take Hwy 34 toward Corvallis, Oregon and I5. We can grab lunch in Corvallis. Then off towards Portland where off towards home on I-5 Northbound.

I have made reserved a block of rooms for Seaside and Florence. I recommend making reservations early. Rooms book up fast during this time of year. Both Inns will block off parking for our Cobras. Parking at both Inns is not covered. I would bring a car cover in case it is misty.

To make reservations for the Hi-Tide Oceanfront Inn @ Seaside, Oregon:
The rooms at this location are held under "Cobra Car Club." You need to tell them you are in this group.
The contact number is 503-738-8414 or 1-800-621-9876.
Check in: July 26, 2019 / Check out: July 27, 2019
Double Queen or King Oceanfront $179
First Floor Double Queen or King Oceanfront $159 Per Night
Partial View King $149 Per Night
Non-View King $129 Per Night

To make reservations for the River House Inn @ Florence, Oregon:
The rooms at this location are held under "Northwest Club Cobra." You need to tell them you are in this group.
The contact number is 1-888-824-2454.
Check in: July 27, 2019 / Check out: July 28, 2019
Double Queen or King Riverfront Balcony View $169
Double Queen or King Non-Riverfront $129

Here is a google map of the route: https://goo.gl/maps/4rfRySARRaG2

If you have never driven 101 in a Cobra you are missing out! I think everyone will have a great time. It is hard to beat the views and twisty roads that we will be driving. Especially Hwy 34 from Waldport to I5. Please make your reservations early and post if you will be joining us on the trip.

Thanks, Bruce

Bruce,
Bruce,
This trek is always fun, your work in getting this organized is appreciated.
Not sure we can make this one, as this is the same weekend as the Good Guys car show in Puyallup.

Welcome aboard Greg. I assume we'll connect with you at the Dismal Nitch Rest Area. We should be there around 10:30 - 11:00am.

Thumbs up

Just a reminder. The reserved hotel rooms for our summer cruise will go away on July 1. So if you're going on the cruise make your reservations no later than June 30.

See you all soon.

Smile 2019 Northwest Club Cobra Summer Cruise-See you next Friday

Just a quick note before we depart next Friday (July 26, 2019) for the Northwest Club Cobra Summer Cruise.

Here’s an updated map: https://goo.gl/maps/MzjM4FE9Tq8Ecsau6. I recommend you print it or send it to your cell phone. It may come in handy if we get separated.

Gay and I will be at the McDonald’s parking lot off SR512 and I-5 (10417 Pacific Hwy SW, Tacoma, WA 98499) at 8am. We’ll depart towards Montesano at 9am. That should give us an arrival at the Montesano Chevron (518 1/2 1st St S, Montesano, WA 98563) close to 10am.

We’ll leave the Montesano Chevron close to 10:30am. That should place us at the Dismal Nitch Rest Area close to 12pm. Then onto Seaside.

Just out of Montesano we’ll run into road work on the Chehalis River Bridge on Hwy 107 so there may be some delays. The speed limit is reduced to 25mph and there is one-way alternating traffic with a temporary signal in the SR 107 work zone.

We’ll be staying at the Hi-Tide Oceanfront Inn, 30 Avenue G, Seaside, OR 97138

Saturday morning we’ll head south on Hwy 101 at 9am. We’ll stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for a break, tour, and snacks. Then we’ll continue south to Newport for lunch. I’m thinking we stop at the Newport Café. It is very small and tends to get crowded on Saturday mornings. Hopefully they have space for us. I’ll call ahead to see if they can hold a table for us. They have accommodated us in the past.

Then it’s on to Florence. We’re staying at the River House Inn, 1202 Bay St, Florence, OR 97439. We’ll make several stops because us old guys can’t go to long without a pee break. If you guys are interested, we can do a group dinner at a place we’ll decide on when we get there. There are some good eateries in Old Town Florence and there is the Three Rivers Casino with some good restaurants.

Just a reminder: Parking at both Inns is not covered and it tends to get misty in the morning so bring a car cover if you have one.

On Sunday we’ll leave Florence at 8:30 AM and head back up Hwy 101 to Waldport, Oregon where we leave Hwy 101 and take Hwy 34 toward I5. We can grab lunch in Corvallis. Then off towards home on I-5 Northbound.

If anybody has any thoughts or ideas, please chime in.

My cell number is 253-906-4391. My email address is bruce.a.snyder@comcast.net.

If you send me your cell number, I’ll print copies of a list of names and cell numbers to pass on to everybody.

See you on Friday (July 26).

Bruce and Gay

Well, here’s the first oops. I sent you the wrong map. I had us returning on hwy 20 from Newport. We’re returning on Hwy 34 from Waldport. Here’s the correct link: https://goo.gl/maps/MzjM4FE9Tq8Ecsau6.

See you guys on Friday.

Bruce
