Default 2019 Run to The Sun (12th Annual)

Hello Cobra Buddies,

It is time to make your reservations, for the “2019 Run to The Sun”! This year there has been a change. We will be staying at the “Freestone Inn At Wilson Ranch” (hereafter referred to as “The Inn”) in Mazama, WA, which is a few miles west of Winthrop, WA. We have a finite block of rooms (ten) on hold for the group, so make your reservations NOW!

We arrive at “The Inn” the afternoon of June 21nd and depart on June 23th. Gloria and I will be staying an extra day and departing on the 24th, you are welcome to join us. When you make your reservations be sure and say you are with the “The Car Group”, that’s the way they have it referenced in their reservation system. The phone number for “The Inn” is (800) 639-3809. To check out “The Inn” on the web go to Freestone Inn :: Home.
`
We will be meeting for a hearty breakfast the morning of Friday June 21st at 10:00 AM in the Silvana, WA area, at Stephen and Judy Crostens home. If you are planning on participating in the Run to The Sun, send me a private message with your email address and we will get you directions.

After breakfast, we will depart from Silvana at 11:30 AM and head over Highway 20 to Mazama, WA and “The Inn”. Highway 20 is always a fun drive. We usually make a stop for gas and a comfort stop at a view point, during the trip.

Friday evening, we will meet at “Jack's Hut-Pizza & Brews”, which is on the “The Inn” property, for a few adult beverages (if you are so inclined), swap lies and have dinner. After dinner we can adjourn to the patio or if it is cool outside move over to the gas fired fire pit for coffee and more catching up on the past year.

Saturday June 22nd, after breakfast at “The Inn”, we will travel to a brew pub in Republic, WA for lunch. We will take Hwy. 20 from “The Inn” to Republic and back. Distance is about 100 miles each way. We try and get back early enough so people can hit the pool or take nap. In the evening we will meet for dinner at the “The Inn’s” Lakeside Dining Room at 7:30 PM. In 2017 the “The Inn” received the “Diner’s Choice Award”.

On June 23rd we will meet for breakfast with those that are leaving. Those that are staying will use the time to plan what we are going to do that day.

PS- If any one is counting this is the 12th annual Run to The Sun!

Default Rtts 2019

This is the final call. There may be some rooms left, so if you intend too go you better get it together and call the Inn. We will be having a stellar time as usual.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

We still have a few rooms left. You have until the end of the month to make your room reservations. Remember we are staying at the Freestone Inn (see beginning of the thread), which is a small Inn a few miles west of Winthrop. Hope to see you there!

The long range forecast is calling for partly cloudy (30% chance of rain) on Friday when we leave the Arlington area for Winthrop and clear skies while in Winthrop, and good weather for our day trip to Republic on Saturday.

Our group is never larger than 10 cars, so we do not attract "unwanted negative attention".

If you like to put your car through its paces, this is the trip to take!

Default Run to the Sun

Hello Dale, I just learned about the Run to the Sun. The NW Club Cobra group met earlier this month for a Spaghetti feed and to discuss events for 2020. Bruce Snyder was with us and brought up what he called a Winthrop Drive typically done in the Spring. It sounds like these are the same event. Are you putting together a 2020 Run to the Sun. If so I'd like to know more about it. My email address is mtconnors98@gmail.com.

To introduce myself, I bought a 1996 Superformance Cobra in 2009 from a seller in Wenatchee, WA. We drove it to Granbury, TX where I joined Club Cobra. About 5 years ago we brought the car back to Sequim.

I've been working with Tom Lesh and Bruce to gather a registry of the local Club Cobra members and keep everyone informed of events in the NW. Would you be interested in being added to the list? I can send you the minutes of the Spaghetti Feed gathering if you like. It's too big to attach to this message.

Thanks Mike, for reaching out to the boy's on the other side of the water The next meeting for the PNW region, is Feb. 22 @ Mike's house in Sequim. We had 12members show up for the Jan. meeting @ Terry Allen's (Daytona owner) Condo, in Port Ludlow, and came up with some shows & tours we would like to do this year. We (The Club) have came up with a 5-day trip down the Ore. Coast rather then just a 2-day, like last year (Thanks Bruce), since most of us are retried now, anyone can join us with as many days as they can stand with this group The second day which look's like July 25, will be in Coos Bay, with John of JCF, who has offered his wife's Sports bar, as a meeting place (John was around during the building of the Cobras @ Shelby shop in Cal.) And has great stories which he promise's to share. Any question's you may have send to Mike Or me, for more info. Hope to see you all there. Cheers Tom. P.S. Mike has a theatre which will show (New, old ?) Cobra movies. "We are Alive and Well in the Northwest"
