Oops, let me add a footnote to my above statement! I was referring to other floor paint company's comparing their paint to the U-Coat it brand, certainly not to RD.

Just a thought that Jorgen can most certainly clear up for you. With the in floor heating could you not install the hoeycomb tyle in places that would be more or less out of the way of your main work area and that would let more heat through as they are open all the way through.

I gave that some serious thought. To jump back in time a little, years ago I used a Race Deck type material on the rear deck of my boat. (I have no idea if it was RD brand or not.) It was the open type and I loved it! No slipping, looked good and easy to wash down...except under neath the squares. Yes it was open, yes it drained without a problem, but you simply could not clean the floor without picking it up.

That was on a boat with only 60 sq. ft. covered area. Again, the spills that take place in a shop, the grinding dust, not to mention fiberglass dust that will damn up a 4" drain in a minute, the small parts that I drop at least a half dosen times a day, all add up to reason that I really need a solid floor covering.

Somebody, somewhere, just posted a picture of his floor with silver RD down. Now I thought that was perfect. I was convinced, then when the "logo" was mentioned I was over the edge. Had to do it, then the Mrs. asked me what about the heating system!

I simply told her NO problem, this has got to be a great insulator! Click, it struck me, floor radiant heat vs., overhead heat. What's a guy gonna do?

Radiant Heat: Your right, you can use the FreeFlow tile in areas where you want to let the heat transfer at a much higher rate..It will have no effect on the flooring itself. In my garage, I use both the Diamond tile and the FreeFlow and they look great together and work great together. In snowy enviroments, the FreeFlow allows the snow, dirt, water, etc to flow through the floor where it then flows out the garage. I never have to worry about a huge mess in the garage from all the melted snow off the cars...no dirt tracking in the house.

Double Venom- The product you used on your boat may have been our DURAGRID line. http://www.duragrid.com It is designed for marine use, shower flooring, safetry matting, etc. It is made from Vinyl and is loaded with anti-microbials to fight off odor causing mold and mildew. Not designed for garages or work shops.

Looks like you guys have gotten most of your questions answered regarding epoxy vs. RaceDeck. If you do some searches of older posts on "Racedeck" or "epoxy", you will find alot of other info that has been posted about the pros and cons of different types of floors.
