Question Emissions Waiver

OK, its high time to figure out how to obtain an emissions waiver. Thank the Monrail funding needs for that if you know what I mean.

Can anyone help me get started on this for my 1998 model year with a 1974 motor, et all?

Roger C?

Fred, maybe you should check into registering the car at your vacation house at the ocean. Wink....Wink!

Fred

Just tell them you have the motor out being rebuilt and the car will be down when its time to renew and you want to keep your plates. They will give you the wavier and you get the new sticker and you are good for another 2 years. It may sound strange but it works.

Great question Fred!

Someone out there has gone through the waiver program. I understand that when you tab your car now you have to sign an affidavit that it is registered at your principle residence under a heavy fine for fraud. I have been paying over $80 a year for a P.O. in Duvall just so I don't have to sit in line for 45 minutes to fail an emissions test.

Time to move to Mount Vernon and put a gun rack in the back window!

Our son's tabs came due when he had the motor out of the car. He got tabs with the stipulation that he drive the car nowhere except to get an emissions test. I think they've got this one
covered.

Do not spend anything on the car before you go and have it tested. If you fail, you take it to a liescenced emmissions repairer.Problem is finding a repairer that is willing to work with your type of car.He will call that referee and discuss what changes would best bring your car into standards. You are only obligated to spend $150 to bring into compliance. There should be an improvement. You take your car back to the emmissions testing station .If you fail take in your paper work and the people inside will ask questions ,copy your receipts and repairer statements. You will leave with copies(they keep originals)and a waiver .Go get your tabs.Keep that emmissions official's number.
Remember anything spent before the first test and not through a liescened emmission repairer doesn't go toward the minimum $150 to qualify for a waiver.
