Winter Projects

As our Cobra driving days are fast becoming scarce, what, if any winter projects have been planed? It looks like Fred will be installing a new fuel delivery system and Jim will more than likely find a few more square feet of metal to polish or chrome. As for myself, I will be adding power steering. The new rack should be here by mid October along with a new pump, mounting bracket and fluid lines. Jim has graciously offered the use of his shop and lift for the change over. As my left arm is not quite back to 100%, I may have to solicit some help from the more mechanically inclined of the group. Naturally, the pizza and beer will be on me.:3DSMILE:

Well for myself I don't have anything big planned.

Replace header gaskets. Remove the CD player and speakers that the original owner installed. Get it up in the air and just clean the undercarriage. It's pretty clean, but I know I can make it look better.

Went to the Griots garage sale last Saturday and bought their complete cleaning/polishing/wax system, including orbital buffer. Guess I will put about 70 coats of wax on it during the long, cold, wet days of fall, winter, and most of spring.

I'm still working on my Summer project. I'm working on eliminating a coolant leak into the engine oil system. Having the Dove heads repaired. I think I'll have to camp out at the machine shop. Seems like it's been for ever. I didn't burn much gasoline this Summer. Wonder if I'll find all the little parts and pieces?
I embarrsaed myself this week . When I stopped after work to help a stranded red Cobra along side northbound I 5. I asked what brand of replica the car was and found it to be an original CSX-3--- Turned out this owner knows the guy that bought my 1956 AC Bristle from me in 1977. He knew the car and story.

Body work, paint and then re-assembly. The good thing is, I have 7 months to get it done before cruisn' season begins.

As a newbie I'm butting in on your forum, but thought I would introduce myself. Am expecting delivery of a SPF GT 40 in January. Will be installing a Roush 427 (Windsor) over the winter and hope to get my RBT transaxle by May. Have never owned a big torque V8, but have raced Formula Atlantics so am looking forward to this. Will have to get up Seattle way to meet you guys next year.

Common interests

You may want to make the aquaintence of Pat Buckley on this and the Gasholes site. He too has a GT40 and raced Atlantic cars at one time.

My FFR kit will be delivered this month, so my winter upgrade will be building the entire car.

Steve Bisson 10-02-2007 02:51 PM

Mark,
To stop the squeaky rear springs, I sprayed silicone on the bushings. So far it's quiet back there.

1blackbb66 10-02-2007 07:28 PM

Steve,

Oh yes......as large as I can fit in her. I figure that I need 40 gallons on board just so I only have to fuel up half as many times as you, not four times!
