Very nice Perry. You gonna run the 4:11 read-end and dual-quads? Or has OPEC changed you?

Smile Hi,

I'm running a 2004 GT rear with 3.27 gears and discs and a tremic T-5 so should be able to keep up to Fred and Jake, HaHa.
I'm in Arizona on my goldwing for another month, nice weather here for bikes and cobra's. Went out with 16 cobra group last sat and one had a bad accident. We saved him, scary stuff, look at the arizona cobra club thread.
Will get back to the Daytona build end of May.
Pery.

Smile My red Baby is Sold.

I sold the 460 dual quad cobra, sad to see it drive away....
but I retired early and need a new project so I got the Daytona coupe. I have a 351 windsor I'll ramp up to go in it, should make decent power and pass a few gas stations more than the roadster did.
Gas is $3.25 a gal in phoenix vs $5.00 a gal in B.C., I may have to bring it down here for the winters!

Sweet. Doing some AC or are you just cutting a big scoop in the top to push air into the cockpit? Oh that's right you live in the Great White North, Eh? So when does it blast off?

Default vents

Hi K/D,
I plan on having a couple vents for some flow through ventilation, the A/C would be ok but in all the years in the cobra, air would be on only a few days so I'm not going to put it in.
the engine will be built / installed this summer and fired up next spring. probably inspected and licensed in spring 2010 with any luck, getting it painted by then.

Perry:
There's a lot of glass (o.k. plexiglass) in that coupe. You might want to keep the A/C option in the back of your mind. It doesn't have to be all that warm to really toast up the inside of a closed car with a lot of window area.

Default heat

Hey Don,
Thanks, I know it will get hot at times. I'm making the side windows removable, so most of the time it should be ok. When I look back at driving the roadster I'm sure 10,000 of the miles were in damp or rainy conditions so a good vent and defrost are my 1st priority. Also the whole interior will have thermal mat glued in. It will be a touring car so keeping it simple is next. Also have an aluminum mustang cobra spacesaver and mini jack to take along on trips.
Perry.

Sure didn’t need AC on Fred’s frigid Cobra ride we went on to Sun Valley in July. But Fred’s trip to Montana a year later (you missed it) when it was 119-degrees everyday for the entire Cobra ride, the guy in the Daytona just about expired on us in a Glacier Peak traffic jam on the way up the "Highway to the Sun." Take care and hope to see you two soon.

Perry, good to see you are still alive. I can't wait to see that Coupe done. It is going to be a real stunner! I am taking side bets on whether the coupe will have AC after a couple years of driving it. There is a 2 to 1 spread, anyone want in on the action?

Jake

Default I take that bet !

Jake,
If I go fast enough the air will cool it off....or burn it up;
It's geared for 300 KPH or 186 MPH
Would like to run it in the silver State sometime.
Perry.

Thumbs up Back working on the Daytona

Hi had a great 2 month break in SUNNY Arizona, now back to the cobra project.
I have my 351 W stuff back from the machine shop;
.010/.010 polished crank
clevitte 77 rod and main bearings.
.030 over Hastings piston rings.
Lunati hydraulic Voodoo cam and lifters
comp cams magnum rockers and hardened pushrods
1970 351 heads.
should be fun putting it together next week.

.
also Bev and I lifted the body off the chassis, did wheel well shaping, etc
Riveted all the footbox and floor/tunnel aluminum
Installed the sliding seat tracks to the floor/frame.
Trial fitted the gas tank and made the straps fit.
.
Starting to lose my tan in this weather
Perry.
