Good night --

The reason all this is being done is because of the London Cobra Show. Limiting liability, accounts, 501c3 status, etc.
Thanks Rick |
Rick,
Stupid question, but... I understand the need for insurance, and the liability issues on something like this event must be crazy to deal with, but does the liability extend to our membership if the OCC is hosting the party? In the past when the event was the DVSF which enjoyed 501c3 status, there was no membership per se, it was DV's company. I've heard horror stories, probably urban myths, that in a club sponsored event, liabilty has extended beyond the umbrella insurance policy issued to the club, to the individual members irregardless of their involvement with any accident. Thoughts? Thanks, Dan |
All good questions Dan. Hopefully some one who knows what the are talking about can answer them!
In all seriousness, I know nothing about business law. Frank and an attorney buddy are handling this matter. I, like you, will be interested to see just how we can leverage this to the benefit of the members. I do know that part of the intent was to help protect us personally from liability. I would think that we would include any one that is involved. We do need to be sure that no one is opened to needless risk. It may be called the Ohio Cobra Club but will actually be a corporation. I don't know how that plays into this. Do we have an attorney in the house? Thanks Rick |
