Default 427 Glove box restraint strap?

Building an ERA Street Roadster. Does anyone have a photo of an original car or description of where the leather strap that restrained the open glove box door was attached. I assume on the door it was to the side of the door towards the center of the door. Not sure about the dash - side of the opening or top of the opening?

Interesting. The bolt and washer didn't provide much of a finished appearance. Think I'll have to sacrifice a little originality there.

I'm looking for more pictures that I can post but the pictures I posted are a little bit off. The strap under the bolt should come forward toward the passenger, up over the end of the bolt and then back into the right upper end of the glove box opening where it is secured. Thus it somewhat hides the bolt end. As you can see in the above pictures the strap is twisted, if it came out the way I explained it would not have a twist in it. I've been able to see this in other pictures but they are very hard to see and they would not copy well enough here.

That makes sense, if the strap rotated around at the door bolt, it would be twisted.

I just re read my post and I didn't write it correctly.

If I understand correctly I think you are saying that the strap was originally straight when it was installed - and lapped over the top of the door bolt. But on some of the pictures the stap has evidently rotated around the bolt to where it no longer is lapped over the top - and that rotation put the twist in it.

I did find a picture from Original AC Ace & Cobra by Rinsey Mills, p.47, 1990.

Note how the strap is not twisted but somewhat covers the bolt and nut


Also note in my pictures above: #'s 5/6/7 the strap is folded over with the raw edges pointing up under the bolt. I don't think the intention is to have the raw edges coming together and showing. Wrapping the strap around and over the bolt leaves the finished side of the strap up and showing, somewhat hiding the bolt.
