Default Orignal Street Cars - remote oil filter

Did the original street roadsters have a remote oil filter installed by Shelby? 427 only? Also 428?

Thanks

Dan

Good Question,

Here is an article from 1966 that compares the street roadster to the S/C race version, there is one picture of the engine bays that may give you an indication.

Sports Car Graphic, November 1965, Double Cobra test

You may see some other areas where the two differ.

Look at this original street car for some additional views, it look like a remote filter but, it may not have been there by Shelby when it was first built.

No, they came with a shorty filter that was used because the FL1 would not fit.
You had to purchase the optional oil cooler to get a remote filter assembly.

No, the remote was only for the SC or race, I suppose you could order it. I believe if memory serves me, the filter I used was a Fram PH-1.

A car of the vintage shown from the Canepa collection is far from original, it would have had magnesium wheels, not aluminum star bursts, Armstrong shocks not Konis, engine mounted oil filter, dual holleys on a low riser engine, a steel oil pan, and no front sway bar, it also appears to be missing the PCV valve and hose. This is a modified street car not an original street car.

It has been changed significantly from original delivery condition

Thanks guys. Something I won't have to source out and don't really need.
