289 Battery bracket
I'm told the battery on a 289 (RHD, but I guess it's the same on the other side) sits in a simple bracket bolted through the front of the footbox. This doesn't seem very strong, for the weight of a battery. Should it rest on the tubing for the frame - there's an outrigger and the sill tube with the aluminium shell (rocker) wrapped around it?
Thanks, Roger |
Hey Roger do you want a rightie of one of these?

Nice piece. So does that simply attach to the front of the pass foot box? What about the exhaust? Thanks Bill D |
Thanks Bill it does attach to the front of the footbox and top of the frame extension. Of course if you don't have a footbox or frame extension to attach it to I can also provide that.
|
Thanks Nick. I've penciled in this part. When my car gets here from Bruce, I'll see what I need.
Cheers |
Hey Bill I didn't answer your question on exhaust. I have done tri-y exhausts on the 289 and wriggled them by the battery tray.
|
Thanks!
|
Check Nick's reference it is beautiful. It rests on the frame and end of footbox. Very rigid and robust.

Thanks Jeff. I see now how it fits. Just trying to figure out how the side pipes would work

Great pics................... |
You can see in Jeff's second picture it has the heat shield mounted on the inside. The exhaust drops down between that and the motor.

Where did you get the photos from? |
IMHO, work with Nick (Mickmate). He is "Your Huckleberry" and will see to it that it is right.

Hey Bill FIA style side exhausts? By the time the exhaust is under the battery it is out in the airflow. I don't think that will be a problem. Where did FIA cars put their battery?

Excellent. Thanks for the picture. As they say, it's worth a 1000 words. Indeed it is!

Richard CSX3018 has a picture in his gallery showing exhaust running down between motor mount and battery.
