Racewhere also making correct throttle stop.
This is not some TIG welded reproduction part. :o)
Nice touch to any car.

Is it or is it not a carriage bolt with a washer welded on and some silver paint?

Dwight 06-02-2016 07:56 PM

carriage bolt has four shoulders and this bolt look like it has six. Maybe a standard bolt with a washer welded on the top and one at the base of the threads.

Looks pretty accurate to me! Another "I must have this part" for my collection!
How do I get one John?

Here is a side by sid comparison of the original (black) and the one we re-popped (clear cadmium), I have seen them both ways. It is not a carriage bolt with some silver paint.

Looks like an original 289 Cobra installation to me!

427sharpe 06-06-2016 08:10 AM

Looking at the installed pic, from the top it looks like a regular bolt with 2 washers welded on?

CompClassics 06-06-2016 11:55 AM

The part is brazed and plated.

But Jeff does not have an original AC-Shelby-Ford 289 Cobra, he has a modern Shelby replica. Let the pigeons loose!!! But it still looks really good!

mickmate 06-16-2016 09:23 AM

Looks a lot like this one and yes it is just a bolt with a washer but it's the right size bolt and washer brazed together and plated.

Cobra Automotive has them also

John Makes a very nice part. If it is only a bolt with a washer as Mickmate suggests then anything over $5.00 seems expensive. Making parts correctly involves a lot of time and money.

CompClassics 06-16-2016 06:41 PM

I will say this the stop is non-adjustable and not as "Mickmate" advertises this part on his web page, the part is fixed at a certain length. Tracking down the correct size hardware, brazing and correctly plating the part as per the originals were done takes some time and labor. Anybody can copy someone else's work or in fact some people advertise other people's / companies products as their own, I know this because I have been approached by these people to do exactly this.

I'm a hot rodder at heart and love the way Shelby's crew made parts so they could go racing.
A fence post, a metal sign, anything to keep the car running. Running Faster:)

Maybe that is one of the main reasons I like Cobras. In my eye they are a hot rod.

Bolt, couple of washers... I'd make it! No bronze rod? A bit of JB Weld! $5...maybe! :3DSMILE:
