Period Correct Looking Pedals Using Wilwood Floor Mounted Pedlas

I decided that my Wilwood floor mounted brake pedals just didn't have that period correct look so I decided to fabricate my own pedal arms in place of the Wilwood cast aluminum ones

I disassembled the units and laid out the dimensions on some 4130 .375 bar stock using the Wilwood pieces as templates.

Here is the Wilwood cast aluminum clutch pedal

Here is my clutch pedal roughed out

And here it is all cleaned up, pivot bushing machined and honed to .505, and ready to weld up

Next up the dual master cylinder brake pedal. This one is much more complex. Here is the Wilwood cast aluminum piece

Again, I started with 4130 .375 bar stock and cut the pedal to,rough shape. I then cut the pivot tube from 1.250 4130'tubing, drilled the center with a 1.000 bit on my lathe and honed it to fit the balance bar. The "ears" were cut from 4130 .125 steel bar and fitted. All that's left is to weld it up

AC pedal pads will be mounted after the parts are powdercoated black

I want to thank Nick Acton for providing a picture of a set of Wilwood Pedals he had reworked in this manner. Much appreciated

Tremendous work. I wish that I had your skill, and tool shop! How many hours of work did it take to fabricate those pedals?

What are you doing up at 5:30 am responding to posts!! Get some sleep ;)

My wife and I are going to see my father-in law in January. He lives near San Francisco. I was thinking about heading to see your build while we were out but then found out how far away you are :eek: The last time we were out it took almost 2 hours with traffic to get from his house to San Francisco for the flight back home, I cannot imagine how long it would take to get to where you are. Maybe next time.

I took a similar tack and used an old pair of Tilton pedals. I liked the fabricated look with the lightening holes.

Is this a new direction with the pedals. From early pics of the build it seemed you were using a vintage style pedal box.

Curious as I was looking at floor mounted pedals for my FFR as well, what setup will go into your build?

My setup uses the Wilwood floor mounted pedals that are located below the fiberglass footbox and mount to a steel plate. This is how Bruce designed it. I simply removed the Wilwood cast aluminum pedals and will replace them with the ones I'm making.
