What color were the original toploaders in 427 cobras, cast or black?

Could be mistaken....but I think the finish on the originals was "as-cast". From memory, that's what my local expert (he's a David Kee agent) said.

FWIW....mine's painted....

Bare cast or steel. Neither Ford nor Shelby were interested in spending $$ to paint something that wasn't visible to the casual observer.
