Default Reproduction Cobra oil pan??

I recently picked up a 63' 289HP motor that has a Cobra pan attached. I'm aware of all the controversy over the pans being original or after market. I don't know if any of the photos will help but would appreciate your input. The pan has a few battle scars but is pretty nice. It weighs 15#. No other stamping other than the one pictured.

Cobra roadster pans do not have the side "bump-outs" that the GT350 pans have. A GT pan will not fit in the 260/289 frame rails.

I don't have any knowledge to impart here, but can you tell me about the controversy?

Just from what I've read on some other forums. That some of the reproduction pans were stamped to appear to be original, some debate over the thickness of the casting in the original as compared to the reproduction, number of baffles, among other things.
