Would somebody mind letting we 100's of fake guys in on the private joke/scandal/mystery that only the secret-handshake original players can talk over our heads about?

Looks like not. You guys are tighter than the Masons.

Excaliber 09-24-2009 04:47 PM

Man these guys are tighter than that other Cobra forum that requires a decoder ring to gain entry to. :)

ALLEN ENGLISH 09-24-2009 07:35 PM

Maybe I missed it, but I for one would like to see the pictures of this car. I would love to see the condition the car was found in>

I realize I am relatively new to the forum, but I don't understand the secrecy?

I'm not and I don't either. If the group would not be let-in on the story/joke/mystery then communication should have been done off board by PM or mail.

It's supposed to be a public forum for sharing information-no Ron?

Excaliber 09-24-2009 08:16 PM

Sorry dcdoug someone hasn't actually said what's going on, here's my take on it.

The secrecy surrounding the original cars is well deserved! If everyone knew all the little details of what it takes to confirm a "lost" or "recovered", "missing" original Cobra it makes it easier for an imposter to pass itself off as a real one. It HAS happened. A fake can be done SO well it has a chance of fooling even the most expert among those who "guard the secrets" of confirmation. Rumor has it, that actually happened for a time, with at least one car.

Jay Leno noted that due to the value of Dusenbergs there are now more "really official and verified" Dussey's out there than were originally manufactured! Some, like original Cobras, may actually be two cars! One with the "real" body, another with that bodies "real" chassis, for example. Or a wrecked Cobra, rebuilt, a "real" one, but somebody else holds the title! There's a bunch of ways to fake a car and with the high value on some, it's worth a significant investment to do so.

In spite of the secrecy I do enjoy the banter back and forth, the rumors, the mystery of a new "find", it's kind of like a game that's interesting even if I don't know all the rules. :)

In this case I'm not sure what Mr.Bruce has up his sleeve, but I'm watching him like a hawk... Da bunnies know...

You guys are getting played.

Excaliber 09-24-2009 08:33 PM

With mrbruce at the table, thats definitely a consideration. Notice his poker face? He's hiding something all right....

:)

"decoder ring", a not always kind way of referring to the SPF forum, which DEMANDS proof of actual ownership of an SPF in order to gain access to the inner realm, the 9th heaven, the roll bar sanctum or whatever lays behind those mystery doors. :) Sell your SPF? No decoder ring for you, must give it back!

Yep. A bunch of NUTS.

He's either bluffing or it's a bush whack... :)

Almond flavored bush whack at that.

The dog is cute.

The whole "da bunnies" thing is a little 3rd grade for me. Certainly there must be a different way of keeping the big secret and getting no point across would be better. But hey whatever floats people's boats.

X 2.

There is-keep it off the board if you're not going to examine a subject.

Would like to hear from Ron or Jamo's take on selective posting.

computerworks 09-25-2009 07:09 AM

I wouldn't get too upset over Bill's joking...it really is a tongue-in-cheek running gag he has propagated over the years.

I believe it sources back to the pack of urban legends that surrounded the lost Phil Spector coupe...where (something like) the daughter of the owner may have killed herself and was found with her pet rabbits; no one knew how she met her fate... except, perhaps, for the rabbits ("da bunnies").

Bill has worn that gag thin over the years, implying secret knowledge over this or that. :p ..and he'll correct me if I am wrong with the source information.

Regardless, most of this thread is content-free and really should just be kept light.

No one knows nuthin'...unless Uncle Bruce has found one of those few missing Cobras in Pittsburgh that he, map and I talked about at SAAC-34. :p

Only da' bunn.... oops, forget about it. ;)

You got it pal. Usually, the only time you get a straight post from two of these guys is when they want to sell you
something.

The whole 'air cars' business has been a long-playing record.

Ah yes, the origins of "Da Bunnies", pretty darn close, with just some very minor things that are not 100% factual. While starting out in a manner that was tongue in cheek as Ron has stated above, over the years "Da Bunnies" have turned up some truly interesting historical (and unknown until that time) items related to vintage (IE: original) Shelby items (Shelby Mustangs and Shelby related Cobras), so to say that "Da Bunnies" organization is not indeed "real"(tm) would not be 100% accurate . ;)

Bill S.

PS: F-E-R-R-A-R-I %/:rolleyes::LOL:

Thanks, now I at least understand the mystery - I now know what I don't know......

mr bruce 09-25-2009 08:23 AM

don't get yer shorts all up yer cracks gents. I axed a legitemet question. I might have located a "real" one, burried for many moons, might even be a duplicate of it out there(air car). Just shakin' the trees to see what falls out.
