Default One more event for Monterey=this one with Shelbys & CS himself

I was surprised when reading the Quail Lodge website that their event
Aug. 13th will have Shelbys when I thought they were a foreign car event. Here's their press release, quoted off their website in its entirety.

"The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering

For ten days each August, connoisseurs and enthusiasts from around the world converge on the Monterey Peninsula to celebrate the ultimate in automotive design, engineering and camaraderie among fellow aficionados. The crown jewel in a whirlwind of events is The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. Since its inception, it has combined a lush setting in a golf course nestled against the Santa Lucia mountain range with exceptional cuisine and the finest examples of vintage sporting automobiles seen during the week. Sponsors provide the cream of today’s luxury cars to be sampled by guests on local roads, and those who wish, can also test their mettle on the Land Rover Experience Driving School off-road course. The event’s worldwide reputation is confirmed by its inclusion in the Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award, a competition where the luxury goods maker chooses one car each year from the Best of Show winners at The Quail, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, the Cavallino Classic and the Concorso D’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
The Quail is thrilled to announce the featured themes for 2010:

Featured Milestone Cars of 1934
45 Years of the Shelby Mustang
Alfa Romeo Special Coachbuilders
Racecar Driver Carroll Shelby
Nürburgring
As always, we will continue the tradition of The Great Ferraris along with Pre and Post-War Sports, Pre and Post-War Racing, Sports and Racing Motorcycles and Super Cars, plus a few surprises.

The Quail’s reputation is based on being much more than a conventional Concours. The Quail Lodge is a stone’s throw from the headquarters of the world’s largest producer of organic produce and is a neighbor of several of California’s leading wineries. The area is also known for artisan cheeses and other gourmet specialties. Drawing on these resources, the Quail Lodge culinary team creates a lavish feast that transcends mere gourmet food and wine and includes martini and tequila bars, espresso counters, gelaterias and other unexpected epicurean delights. Concurrent with The Quail, Bonhams and Butterfields will conduct a two day, multifaceted auction, in an adjoining structure, featuring fine jewelry, watches, automobilia and an exceptional selection of historically significant automobiles. "

Try as I might, I couldn't find the ticket price on their website http://www.quaillodgeevents.com/pages/thequail.cgi
but let me guess that it is going to be Pebble Beach type prices or higher. This event is famous for "the right crowd and no crowding" as the Brits say...
