Not Ranked
Default 302 for sale, West Chester, Pa

Next week, the 302 in my car, FFR2479K, is being swaped for a worked over 351W. So....the 302 will be for sale.

The history of the motor, as best I know it... The car was built in Sept. 2001. I tracked down the builder (Palmer Classic Creations, in Kentucky). He told me the motor was from Jasper Engines. I have never found the markings on the motor to document this, but haven't looked too hard either. The car has about 4600 miles on it, so if it is a Jasper motor, that's the mileage. If not, I'm honestly not sure. The motor pulls like a freight train.

However, the motor DOES have a noise. My mechanic and I are not totally certain what it is. You can only hear it when the motor is under constant light load (i.e. if you are just holding steady at 40 mph). It sounds almost like someone tapping/rapping against an aluminum pan. Actually, it's almost like a rattle. It goes away if you let off the gas and it goes away if you get on the gas. It doesn't do it at idle either. Only under light load. We suspect it may be a wrist pin or a slight rod knock, but don't know. I have been driving car like this for a long time and it runs 100% (anyone who watched me at the autox course at the Fling on Sunday should be able to verify that). But you may wish to tear the motor apart if you are going for a strong one. It is a good engine and a great starting point for a build up.

The motor will be at my mechanics' shop in West Chester, Pa., about 35 miles southwest of Philadelphia. It must be picked up. It should be ready for pickup around July 12-15th.

Price: $250

No, it ain't "real", but it's real fast....

Some people choose to rattle their windows with stereos and speakers... I choose to rattle windows with my right foot.
