				 427 SOHC for sale
I know somebody locally who's selling a 427 SOHC. This motor was purchased as an NOS crate engine, with zero run time. It was then pulled apart, and completely redone, with a 428 stroke (454 inches) and all the best internals. This motor was dynoed at close to 700hp, with a single carb. It is also pretty well detailed, with all the aluminum polished, and other parts painted Ford blue. It's a nice looking motor.
He's asking 30k. If anyone is interested, let me know and I can contact him.

Terry - now - now! This is PS's thread. I've always loved SOHC's "look" as do many others but this would be for something else.

I received the motor yesterday after buying it in early January. I would like to thank Sal Menella, who arranged for the deal and also Rich, the owner of PCHS Racing Engines in Bohemia, Long Island. Rich is also the builder and did a good job from what I can tell so far. Sal and Rich, thanks a lot.
And thanks also to computerworks Ron for driving over there and taking a look.

				 Great moder Bill
 Bill,
If it means anything Rich from PCHS also rebuilt my FE shortblock a few year back. You don't see his name mentioned around here much but when I went looking for an FE builder in the NY NJ area he came highly reccomended. His shop was loaded with Ford race cars of all descriptions. I know what a die hard FE guy you are so you could not have picked a better engine or shop.

Lots of luck,

Roger

Good for you Bill! I guess I was an email late on this one.
Just curious - where is the water "inlet" on this thing?

 Best wishes!

Roger, he told me he started out drag racing FE's back in the early 60's and has been doing it ever since. Of course he also build others brands these days. I also felt comfortable that the motor had the rights parts and was assembled with care.
Incidentally, it has carillo rods, venolia pistons and a 427 steel crank altered to a 3.98 stroke.

For those that have just seen their first 'cammer' motor, for those that don't know what a 'cammer' is, try this link on: http://www.supermotors.org/resources...sue01-a2-1.php
Bill, from those of us that are just totally green....pffffffffttt !
Well done, I will watch the progress on your Cobra with much enthusiasm and jealousy!

That was a fun read on the SOHC link DV provided!
I always wondered why the side oilers (same block as the SOHC) used threaded plugs for the side instead of the typical "freeze plugs". Apparently because the water pressure at 7000 rpm is about 90 psi.

Awesome motor all right, legendary to say the least.

I have seen a multiple-gear gear drive for the camshafts at For Power Parts, here in SoCal!!!
