Battery box
I'm relocating my battery to the trunk of my Contemporary Cobra
and am having difficulty locating one small enough to fit. Can anyone offer up a supplier? The ones from Summit and JEGs are like small coffins.

Woodman,
I don't know about a supplier or what kind of battery you are using but we go to a local machinist and have them made from stainless. It looks good and you can have it built to fit whatever battery you have. And at the moment the price isn't much more than ordering one from Jeg's. One guy even took his to the upholstery shop and had it all covered in leather to match his trunk so I really couldn't see where the nice stainless helped a lot there since he just covered it up.

I'm using an Optima battery with a billet alum battery holder from Speedway Motors which is made to hold the Optima. Works fine.

I like the idea of manufacturing a custom box however our area
is extremely void of custom metal fabricaters. My battery is 12x8x8
Roscoe how tall is the box you have and where is Speedy motors located? Do they have a website?

They offer two kinds. No need to worry about venting cause the Optimas are sealed. http://www.speedwaymotors.com

Roscoe,
What is the number for the bottom battery mount that you posted the picture of ? I like it much better than what I have and am using that exact battery but I could only find the one in the top picture on the site.

anything wrong with using a marine type battery box and then strap it down in the trunk (just behind the seat in the trunk)?

woodman, check my pics, this came out of
a boeing 727, used for emergency lighting. I have 2 or three left. Make me an offer if you like.

Sorry, the demensions are,
L 9 3/4 W 7 1/2 H 8 1/2
Vented on top, four snaps, you must use a top post battery shorter than 8 1/2 and run short cables to the front, a little labor intensive but nice.

They look perfect I have one problem, my battery wont fit in it.
I should by a new one but this one is only a few months old. There is a gentleman in Texas who has done some machining for me I'll probably see if he can fabricate one.
Thanks for the help

Another Optima Option
Here's another option for the Optima batteries, similar to the Speedway piece that Roscoe has shown. This is by Detroit Speed in Michigan. Higher price, but available in billet and polished versions.
