So Restorers part# 1024---described as a base plate replacement for originals hood latches is the piece? Pg 1 17/17 on the site and on pg 4 in their catalog, lower right, the rings in the picture?

If so I'd have never known--and I was asking for the wrong part.

I've only seen one original Cobra and it was a 427 @ a car show in Denver many years ago. Never did go to the Shelby museum in Boulder in all the years I lived in Colorado, wasn't really into Cobras at that time.

Were they riveted on? from pictures I've seen in books I can't tell how they were mounted--being it was a aluminum body A rivet would seem likely.

Thanks

I can't find my steenkin receipt.

GR,

Yes, I looked in Restorers catalog #9 and on page 4, part # CP1024 is the correct piece.

Well, its not period correct, but it works for me.

I have seen original 289s that had this piece made our of very thin tin or aluminum and it was riveted in place.

Personally, it took a lot of balls to drill two very large holes in the body to use this look. I simply used stainless screwswith stop nuts to secure.

Computerworks has some great shots of the real CSX3002 in his gallery. If you go to my gallery and click on key word CSX3002, his pictures will pop up and you can see the rear shot with the eyelets.

I purchased 2 S/S washers in the same dia. today, drilled three holes in each to accept 1/8th in rivets, sanded and polished them--may not be "period correct"--but look like it--total cost $.50 and about one hour of labor---
Better than spending $30 something + shipping from a Cobra parts supplier
FWIW
