Post E-Brake part needed

Need an e-brake wishbone from a Mustang II ,Pinto , or Maverick. This is a nos/nop from Ford, unique only to these cars.
Don't really relish the thought of spending the $$/time to change out the e-brake system, brake handle, cables et al., on my car.

I've not found any at the local wrecking/scrap yards, found the cars but everyone was missing the rearend--these Mustang II, Pintos, Mavericks are scarce in the yards here.

Any Ideas or help? Surely someone must know where parts like this are available?

If not I'm contemplating a late night raid on my neighbors kids Mustang II Cobra .

Gary, I may have an extra one....I won't be able to check until Sunday but as soon as I do I will let you know.....I realized how scarce they were when working on my kit and I think I ran across a second one that I grabbed up and threw in my parts inventory..
are you by chance working on a Street Beast????

Earl
Nope it's an older NAF 289 FIA, previous owner swears it was on the car when it was shipped but since the brakes had just been redone and not adjusted when it was shipped, who knows ? Maybe it it did fall off in the transport from Chicago to Bainbridge?

If you have one great Let me know what you want for it. And Thank you.

Gary:

Get one from a Mustang 5.0 GT. It is about 2.5" long, very compact and strong. The Ebrake cables can be inserted in slots and the cable from the handle goes through the center. I can send a picture if you like.

Rick thanks for the picture. Did you use the entire e-brake system, handle et al., from 5.0 or just the cable piece?

Gary:
I used just the wishbone piece. When I was redoing my car this part had been fabricated and I wanted to replace it. I found this was used on a 5.0 and I liked it. I think the handle is from a Mustang II from 74-78. Check my gallery there are pictures of the rear brake details.

Thanks Rick, looks like that setup will fix my e-brake, or lack of right now. I know of at least 3 wrecked 5.0 Mustangs in one yard very close to me.

If you need the cable(s) shortened, take them to a shop that makes choker cables for the logging industry (your area) or that works with wire cable/rope. I had new cable stops put on each end of the cables from the calipers to the center wishbone. Works great.

The part I have described will need single cable to each caliper, with the threaded adjuster cable from the handle through the center. It will not work with a single loop cable.

Bummer, looks like I may have to just bite the bullet and plan on changing out the entire e-brake assembly.

just thought i would throw 2 cents in...the current Jegs catalog has 1 universal e-brake kit in it... i ordered the handle and the cables. The handle was a nice looking unit, and the cable kit was very easy to custom fit. I was very happy with the way it all turned out, which surprised me because I have never had any luck with any kind of 'universal fit' kits. (This was for rear disc brakes on a 9 inch....I guess you may have a different rear end, but they seemed awfully adaptable...there was enough cable included to run the e-brake system on a bus!!)) Default May have that

I think I have a spare divider.

You put two cables to it, and pull with one handle.

Contact me.

I have a single, new btw, hub to hub e-brake cable, a loop, and a e-brake handle assembly from a Mustang II, just missing the wisbone that grips the cable and fits the e-brake handle adjustment fitting--I was hoping to avoid having to change everything out-- not that the expense is so bad but just a PIA to do.

trularin--if I have to go that direction what do you want for the part?

Gary, why don't I send what I have and you decide if it will work for you?

The Mustang II has a center cylinder with the hole through the center you pass a flatted threaded rod through.

I have the bracket that you can bolt to the rod and attach two cables to. I also have the bracket for the cables themselves to attach to the frame.

I also have a complete E-Brake handle from an SSR ( Cheby ) if it will help.

Let me know. As I said, I can send the items to you and you can do what you have to from there.
