A quick update. The Texas DMV added an "Assembled Vehicle Manual" to their website just last month. Might check it out if you haven't gotten it straightened out. I have a MCO on mine so not the route I'm using but. A number can be assigned to the chassis by the state and stamped on it. Custom vehicle is the easiest route it seems.
