Default Vintage California License Plate

Recently I received my yellow on black 1965 era license plate. It looks fine, but is not any of the requested numbers/letters. It starts with the letter B with 3 numbers and then CO. I would have liked to know what I was getting before ordering. When I did this before in another state for a personalized plate, I was able to lock in your choice before paying the extra for the plate. I am curious if many of you received the personalized plate you wanted.

Hi,
I got personalized plates multiple times and got exactly what I ordered. I had checked it was available which is done online.
Did you check the availability of the plate you wished?

Best
Luke

mr. G,
How did you do that? I'd like to do the same (transfer previous personalized plate to b/y).
When I try online it won't work.
Did you have to go in to the DMV or AAA?
Thanks.

The original registration form that we sent into the DMV before the program got off the ground had a box to check and asked for your personalized plate info IIRC. Really nothing special to do, but it was a hard copy form.

Same personalized plates, only in the b/y color.
Print the form, fill it out, check the right boxes and include your $50 check when you mail it.

Just fill out the form and mail it in. Be sure to designate where you want to pick them up. In my case I said my local AAA. You will eventually receive a receipt confirming your plates are in the works. Then you will receive notification that they are ready for pickup at the AAA you designated. Then, you just bring in the old plates and Bada-Bing!
