Default newby seeks scratchbuild info

hello everyone
my name is michel and i live in holland

yes the one with the tulips, windmills , and yes amsterdam

but not so many cobra's SADLY

i have been a long time fan of the car since i borrowed a book from the library that had a picture of a 427 in it
a few years back i drove a DAX kit and i was hooked
after that i had the chance to drive a superformance coupe ( awsome machine )
and after a 7 year restauration / modification of my jaguar xj 12 c broadspeed race coupe i am planning a difrent build

i guess a bit of help is what everyone here seeks one time or another
and that's why i registered here

i hope that someone is willing and able to help me with some measurements of the chassis of a 289 cobra
i have been building a full scale car ( jaguar ) for 7 years now and i am fed up needing so much space to build the car so i want to build one in 1/5 scale
and i would love to have a 1/5 scale cobra in my display case
next to that i could build it indoors so during the winter that would be very welcome

so if there is anyone who is willing and able than please contact me

regards

michel

Welcome Michel! Are you looking for basic measurements like wheelbase, track width, overall length, or more specific measurements like main frame length, suspension mounting dimensions and so on?

hello larry

i am looking for fairly accurate measurements as i am planning a big 1/5 scale build in brass of the 289 ( fia )
and i want it to be as detailed as can be

i know i can get the 427 plans online for 200
but i like the leafspring version better
the bodyline is more to my liking

hope someone can and will help me

regards
michel

If $600 is within your budget give this a try: Coupe Chuck 289 Drawings (click "Drawings for sale" on the left)

Didn't Chuck also have a set of 289 Roadster drawings he was selling at one time?
Maybe I'm dreaming but besides his, I don't know of any measured drawings.
The issue your going to run into Michel is 289 replica's that accurate are pretty rare. Maybe you could find an accurate model and scale it up? Just a thought.

G'day Michel,

I'm also this side of the pond and located in istanbul.
GMP has released Cobra 289 street, FIA and USRRC in big 1:12 scale
I've got FIA version on my scale model collection and very nice.

Peace,
Ozgur

hello larry and ozgur

thank you for your reply

i know of the drawings chuck has made
amazing cars he has and i have followed his build years back from the beginning
i am afraid that if nothing else comes up i ll be forced to contact him

the model car upscaling is also a way to do it but than it's still a hard way to get the tubing right as they are under the body

i have seen the mat black gmp 1/12 car it's a lovely one and i want it lol
i do have a fair collection of 1/18 by exoto
but still not detailed enough for me
thats why i want a 1/5 scale

ahh welll hopefully someone else is willing to put in his 2 cents

regards

michel
