I feel for you on trying to get it licensed.

I worked hard for 3 months to get mine done back in 2000. At that time, you had to have a title on the frame, engine or body. We have a Sheriff living in our small town and when it came time to get the approval from from the Sheriff, he saw the vin tag on the firewall that Lone Star has from the state of Texas. He then told me to go to the courthouse and get it finished along with my insurance information.

Well, they would not accept the vin tag, even though LSC was was recolonized by the government as a auto maker just like the big three here in the USA.

I contacted a salvage yard in NY and got a title from a 1966 Ford convertible car frame for $100. I was in & out of the courthouse in 15 minutes with a title !

As far as I feel, the state of Nebraska screwed themselves for over 40 years, by now having a way of licensing a custom hot rod or a kit car etc.
Finally,.....back in 2008, they got their @hit together and now has either a assemble vehicle or kit car for any custom trailer, hot rod or for our cobras.

The government has a bunch of idiots working for them !
Look at the loss of revenue that the states that do not have a provision for custom built cars.

I asked the insurance appraiser to please keep the assessment under 40k so I don't get in the higher tax bracket, and he wrote it for the 40k. So rather than getting taxed for 40k, I pay $26 per year on apx. a $100,... 427 Cobra.

I do not feel guilty at all.

Anyway, fantastic job on the cobra and have a butt load of fun !
