Thanks, I had heard from many previous Cobra guys that he was the best.

Bad tire news, the Goodyear billboards are too big and hit the frame, so now I have to go with Avons. I have never had them or seen them on a Cobra, anyone know if they are OK tires?

The Billboards are race tires, the sidewalls on mine cracked after one year on my street car. My current BB tires were recent manufacture at the time of purchase. You can't go wrong with AVONS. I now personally prefer quality over "The Look" when selecting components.

Good to know, but those black wall types are pretty plain Jane.

This might be helpful in deciding:
AVON Tires and Size? - FFCars.com : Factory Five Racing Discussion Forum

Or Good Year lettering can be applied to Avons for "the look" (I really like these)
GOOD * YEAR or any lettering easy made… - FFCars.com : Factory Five Racing Discussion Forum

Here's what I did with my AVONS:

That looks really nice, like Ken Miles' #1 car from '64. How did you do that on Avons?

Now that is cool too, thanks!

I offer a service in my shop that removes the original side wall lettering and then we apply graphics per the customers requirements. By the way AVONS are the only way to go, a little more money but it is well worth it in the sizing, appearance and performance. The process is guaranteed for a year.

These are my Billboards with around 200 miles on them but sitting for quite some time. All 4 look like this now. They are cool looking, but don't have the preservatives in the compound to make them last. As Goodyear told me, they are made to buy on Friday and race all weekend, then toss them. I am also going with Avons. Roger Krause says they just got a fresh shipment about a month ago.

And how do I get it up off the Kwik-Lift to take them off?
I did another post about it, but pretty impressed with how I did it...

This thread is about the FIA and not about tires. I apologize.

Toms shop

Thanks all, looks like I have several options here if I still want letter tires. I am going to try and find out why the Billboards do not fit on this car but do on other SAI Cobras.
