Gotta love those IDM carburetors. The car looks outstanding.

I am surprised that they did not restore the car with a ford generator vs. the current '65 mustang style alternator. Perhaps they were able to document that they raced the car with an alternator. They have really nice Alternators now that are dead on with the original Generators that enable you to use the original generator brackets and keep the generator look, but get the alternator output. I have one on my car. This is a picky detail. The car is gorgeous.

Mike

Ron,

Thanks a million! What a special car! I love it.

The footbox, roll bar, rear flare and jack pad pictures are great as they show this cars particular character.

BTW: Mike your car is to die for............

Thanks

My car ain't so pretty right now. I got a faulty paint job (pealing off in sheets when I got back after a year long stint in Europe for work) and it is back to bare metal. The car now has spats and will be properly painted by Motion Products, a Ferrari restorer in my area -- its on its way this week. The car will be redone to the spec CSX2136 raced at the Bahamas in '63 which means it will be viking blue.

Interesting, I just noticed that they did the alternator conversion right in the generator cut-out box and left the original Generator voltage regulator on the firewall where they were placed on pre-CSX2200 cars. Maybe it was raced that way in '65. That seems like a conversion a racer might have done quickly in the mid 60's.

I just love this car. Looks like Legendary did a great job keeping the original character of the car.

I've never seen a car with valve covers installed in that orientation??? Cobra OR Mustang. That particular alternator is second generation from Ford or Autolite. The first generation alternators that were on some luxury 1963 Ford products and used a single connector with 3 wires that plugged into the back of the alternator and had a ring terminal on a 10 gauge wire for the power feed that secured the plug.

Just stumbled on this thread after a prompt from another CC member. I have some pics of CSX2162, but these are great! Thanks Ron!

I have been to Legendary Motor Car several times and they always have several original Cobra's in their inventory and I have seen several original Cobra's in various stages of restoration and the attention to detail is simply outstanding!
