I did all you did and found a broken fusible link in the wire from the alternator to the battery. Its easy to check. Turn the key on and see if the power cable to the alternator is reading 12 V. If its not, its likely a break in the circuit.

It's fixed now and I did check the fuses in those circuits, but good to keep in mind. As soon as I get the resistor, I will wire it in parallel with the ignition bulb and be good. I bought the resistor on amazon and didn't notice they were mailing it from Hong Kong until I got the shipping notice. %/
