It was great getting to make some new friends and putting faces to names. Other than the torrential downpour and wind on the first day, a very nice 4 days there. Wish that I had more time to hang with people and talk, but when you race you spend all your time prepping the car for the next session. By the end of the 4 days I was thoroughly exhausted.

Thanks to Rick and Fran for letting me take a spin in the GT40 Mark IV.

Jim

If I may ask, what brand of tires is on that car?

Hey Jeff - Thanks for taking the time to take all of the great photos and post them on Club Cobra!! It was an awesome event. Sorry I didn't have a chance to stop by the fire pit and have a couple of cold ones with you...

Firestone Affinity IIRC. They are one of very few 205/70x15 tires available with whitewalls. They squeal on slow, tight turns due to the limited slip. I am considering replacing them with Avons or possibly Mickey Thompson 215/70 ST tires and adding whitewalls from Tredwear or one of the suppliers. We have used the 215 Mickey's on another 289 and they worked well.

Ross took the car out on track Saturday for the "parade" laps and said the tires felt better than he expected.

Thanks for the info. The tire to get is the 215/70 r15 Michelin XWX but it only comes in blackwall. You could stick the whitewalls on those and have a great tire that looks like it belongs on a slabside.

I've found two whitewall tires in this size - Uniroyal Tiger Paw and Maxxis (Taiwan). I doubt either are much of a performer, but they have the right look.
