SAAC44 - Pittsburgh International Race Complex
Announcing...
SAAC-44 - July 11-13, 2019, Pittsburgh International Race Complex SAAC is excited to be the Featured Marque of the gala Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. Much more info about this event will be published over the next few months... :D Planning a drive from NH, will see who is up for it! |
I am thinking about entering the Pittsburg Vintage Grand Prix race. Not sure yet. In the process of building a new home and I will be doing a lot of the construction myself, so I am not sure if I will be able to break away for a race weekend at that point. Getting ready to finally get the building permit and hopefully get the driveway in and hole dug the week after Thanksgiving. Then will have to contend with winter weather.

I will see you there Jeff,

I'd like to go! Not sure I can do the 1800 mile round trip in my Cobra in July, but I'll look into flights.
|
Troy,
What better way to travel 1800 miles than in a cobra? :D Jim |
Planning on entering the vintage race with 1806, a little more info. on the venue/events.

Glen,
I am going to incorporate some wood panels that are stored in my barn from the old house to the new one, so that I can still keep the 1795 vintage in my new home. It is amazing the size of some of the pine boards that I have on my walls. There are some that are 2' wide and 16' long. I have a few in the 16" wide range that will be getting transferred over to the new home. Jim |
Jim, if you're using timber 16 feet long and two feet wide, it shouldn't take you long to build the house then....;)
How do you manage building a house while racing a needy car like an FIA replica? I'm in awe :D Cheers, Glen |
Looks to be a group from NH coming out with trailers.
Anyone know the camping situation at the track? I am told there are new facilities including showers. If so there will be festivities in the evening in our area. |
Jeff,
I just looked all over the Pitt Race site and could find no mention of camping areas. They do have some parking spots on the edge of the North Paddock that have electric hookups and a quiet hours rule from 8pm-8am. My guess is that those sites are for racers who use a motorhome/camper to tow their race vehicle so that they can stay at the track. I would suggest calling the track and asking about overnight camping there. It might be possible that towing in a vehicle for SAAC you might be allowed, not sure though. Worth a phone call. Jim |
Agreed
Will need to look at that option |
Called the track
If you do not need evening power camping is open Power is more complicated No reservations Hoping to have a NH group spot David Kevin Self ...........? |
Hey Jeff,
I'll be at Schenley Park with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. The Healey won't be there, though, I'll be with artist David Townsend of Limited Edition Fine Art Prints helping out around his booth. Cobra guys are welcome to stop by and say hello. The PVGP is a great event and watching the street racing is a real thrill. Here's a sample of David's work: http://i64.tinypic.com/elbfnk.jpg |
Does anyone here have an idea of what the schedule looks like? Meaning, what events are happening on each day? I keep searching the web but can't find anything. I won't be able to get away for all three days this summer but I'm for sure going for one day, possibly two, and I'm trying to figure out which days are the most worth it to be there. Hopefully I'll be stopping by Mr.Bruce's place to check out a LeMans top he is building for me while I'm in town.
I'm just trying to get an idea of which day would be the best to show up though, so I can get a day or two of vacation approved at work and arrange other logistics before it's too late. If you could only go for one or two days, which days would you be there for? |
Time is getting close
Dave, Kevin and I will be there and camping at track. If you see us stop by. 5pm cocktails ...... |
Sounds good to me. I will be on the lookout! ;)
|
Looking forward to it!

Packed and ready to go?
Everyone packed and ready to go? Really looking forward to meeting some of you there. Nice to be able to put a face to a name. I have the car ready to go and will be loading my tools and supplies tomorrow and getting the car on the trailer Wednesday morning and heading down. should be about a 5.5 hour journey for me. Planning on getting there around 3 pm, which is when they will be opening the gates.
