I have my number CSX 4837

Last Saturday I paid a visit to HRE Motorsports in Freeport, NY. and put my deposit on a new Shelby CSX roller after seeing a Guardsman Blue example fresh off the truck. Its amazing how complete the car is. The finish is simply amazing. I kept seeing items that I thought were upgrades only to find out they were included in the price. Front oil cooler, twin fans, chrome roll bar, sidepipes, real knock offs, Shelby lettered calipers, leather seats, the list goes on and on.
It really is well worth the trip to one of the dealers to check out how nice these cars really are.

Keep us informed about how long it takes. There are some posts here saying its a year++, so it'll be interesting to see what the wait is currently.

DP935 11-02-2004 04:25 PM

I will. Right now it is slated for arrival in May. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Time to start collecting parts over the winter. I just purchased a 427 side oiler with a Hilborn EFI that was just rebuilt. Now I am looking for a Toploader to relace the Richmond 5 speed that the motor came with.

Dammit you saw my car before *I* did! You owe me one now

Really, thats your car? The one that I saw had a heater installed in it. Just an incredible car. Its perfect. The Guardsman Blue is just a beautiful color. When will it be ready? Waiting for the engine? How long did you have to wait for it? With HST up, hopefully the cars will come rolling in. You could not find a better person than Bill. He really knows his stuff. First rate service at HRE.

TampaFla 11-02-2004 06:13 PM

You mean you bought the car off the truck (local); not put a deposit on a car to be built by SAI. Why would it take until May to deliver the car "off the truck" to you? It's already built. The wait I was interested in was the wait from deposit to delivery by SAI which seems to be a question in the forum.

LURK 11-02-2004 06:28 PM

I'm 100% sure that's my car- never spoke to Billy about a heater, but hell I might need one to get it home to Vermont

This look familiar?

The car coming off the truck was for another customer. I just had the opportunity to see it before the new owner took delivery. The May delivery quoted by HRE was from the time they take the deposit to when SAI deliveries the new car to their door step. After seeing the other fellows car, its definately worth the wait.

LURK 11-02-2004 06:37 PM

Well.. ok not 100% sure  mine was on the same truck though... can't wait to get down there. Motor is in it... a few more turns of the wrench and I should be good to go (sheeeeit it's going to be a long winter!)

Wait is the key word, by the way. Drop me a line if you want to talk about the process. I'm sure we both made a good choice though :)

Thats the car. The engine and tranny were just going in. I confused yours with another one that had White Stripes. That one had the heater control mounted between the supports for the dash. When are you picking it up? Once again, congratulations on getting such a beautiful car

SAI rollers

DP935 be sure and visit the owners forum at the Shelby web site.Gary Patterson does a nice job of supplying photos of customer cars in differant stages of completion.

May 05?

Well, well,
It seems that almost one year ago, I wrote almost the same post about CSX4795! Still waiting!
I have a beautiful 66' 427fe side oiler sitting in an engine stand over at FE Specialities, I'm sure that Tom is really wondering if I really have a Cobra. I might have to pay 'rent' on the engine stand if they don't deliver soon.
I am very pleased to hear that the cars will be worth the wait, thanks for the feedback!
Sorry if I sound a little 'frustrated', I've just spent the longest summer of my life waiting for my car. And the truth is, that because of Californias screwed-up registration process, if I don't have the car by the first of Jan 05, I will have to wait until Jan 06 to get it on the road! Shoot me now!

jdog:(

P.S. I put my deposit down in Nov 03.

Well done on your purchase.

I first saw one at the 'Run N Gun' in St. Louis last October. I climbed under and over it and thought, I would love one.

Good choice on the "Guardsman Blue" also..:3DSMILE: - my gallery..%/

Hope you get in that line of 500 next January. Would certainly be very frustrating waiting for another twelve months..

Yes agree..%/

I checked this site out a few times during my build and found some great ideas.

This "Forum" also has been a real help with so many helpful enthusiasts.

Jdog's apparently not the only one who's wait was more than a year (still waiting apparently). My wait started out as 7 months, but has stretched to 10 (so far), but as they say "......worth waiting for...." by Thanksgiving last I heard.

At least here we have summer from June to September and then again from September to June.

Hey Guys..

Been out by Shelby a couple of weeks ago, and it seemed like somethings were going on around there. Shelby just moved back into the old digs just recently, so I am sure it takes a little while to get things back on line. I am sure you know that Shelby moved out of the old digs about a year ago, into smaller ones because I guess they wanted a fresh start apart from Venture. I am sure you also know that Venture about that time was having plenty of the their own problems to deal with because of their BK. Of course when they moved out of the old digs they started Shelby Automotive, ie. Shelby Automobiles..ie. Carroll Shelby International. I guess things got ironed out with the Venture thing because just recently they moved back into the old digs from the new digs in the same complex. Now of course in the meantime they have started back in the relationship with Ford to do some new projects. So, I guess you could say alot of things have been happening at Shelby, except for your cars coming off the line, but the good news is that Shelby should be bigger and better when all is said and done.

Hope you guys get your cars soon.

Gentlemen,
I picked up my CSX4761 on Halloween day at the Big Boys Toys Show in St Louis,it was also recently shown at the October track event in Coronado ,I waited just over a year, that was when things at SAI were at their worse,I am sure it is faster now as things seem to be popping At there.
I want to say I am glad I took a vacation from Club Cobra for a bit to get away from the negative bantering, truthfully I let it turn me against cobras for a bit,I'm embarrassed about that.
Shelby came thru as he/they always have, albeit unconventional.
I am so estatic with this car I cant believe it myself, its MUCH better than I expected in most every way,I do think satisfaction all depends on ones perspective, this car fills mine to a T. Fit and finish ,detail work etc are nicer than I had even thought they could be,all in all I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Gary Patterson at also SAI did a great job of bridging the information gap.
Best part is,I made a 30 second decision when I bought my car, thats how much time was left when I happened to poke across it on ebay.I made a snap decision, which I am very good at ,bought it for 37500.00 .
I of course checked out the details the next day before sending my deposit directly to SAI.I also saved enough money to have Keith Craft build a Shelby 496 which will be finished soon, come to think of it,I got interested in Keith when I saw him being bashed here as well, after reading up on him,and seeing a few of his engines in the winners circle I was hooked, maybe it was because I like a classy guy who stands up and does what he does,in spite of critics who are usually the miserable negative types..
Come to think of it , maybe negativity isnt so bad when it inspires the rebel in some of us positive thinkers.
best regards,,Tim Kennedy

P.S. I will gladly answer any and all positive, friendly questions concerning my car, complete with photos if it can help anyone else.

honestly, I have a good feeling about the company. So much so, I purchased some CSBI stock today.

GunrunnerI 12-27-2004 12:45 PM

I too am one of those CSX4700 roller owners and WAITED A LONG time to get my roller. I ordered it on Aug. 28, 2003 and was originally told that the roller would be ready by Nov. 03. Well, after being pushed back endless times, I finally was able to do the final inspection on June 15, 2004. (much advised before signing the final line on the car). Then if you have any warranty issues, stand in line again. Even though the "paper work says 6 months" I was told that they will stand behind any warranty issues. That isn't the problem, it's getting them to send you the parts!!! EVERYTHING IS "OUT OF STOCK!!"
Do I sound a bit fustrated with SAI?? Just a bit, but don't get me wrong... I truely love the car. I just hope after I get it running (thanks CA DMV - SB100) will it will be worth the wait...?
