Default CSX 7000 Question

There is a dealer on the East Coast who has a very nice CSX 7000 for sale. Did some research on the car on the 289 Forum and it was pointed out to me there that the body does not appear to be mated to the frame properly. You can see in the pictures of the car that the right front tire is not centered in the wheel well and the opposing rear tire is off center in the opposite direction.

Is this something that can be corrected? Suspect it would involve removing the body from the frame and remounting somehow (ughh)...not something I could do but maybe a local shop?

As always, appreciate member's answers.

Bob

Yes, this is a common problem on the 7000 series cars. Go to www.TeamShelby.com and find the member named MY500SS (Dan) on there. He just went thru the same issue with his new 289 FIA Cobra.

Cobrakalas427, thanks for the reply and link. His before modification picture looks exactly like CSX 7000 series that is for sale. Interesting problem that I was not aware of.

The story of CSX7076 is at Team Shelby here:

Look at the pic in reply #152

I think photos of the car you mention have been posted here. You could search for the CSX number to find it. I would not buy it until it is fixed, or an allowance for doing so.

CSX7076 was corrected, but the owner took delivery and had it corrected right away. The car at the dealer has been there for some time and he's apparently done nothing about it. Dan's car looks correct so we know the correction can be made.

Any estimate would have to be done on a case by case basis unless there is a core issue with a prescribed fix from the factory. --
