Default Iron 427

I just got my information package from Newport Shelby Cobras. I looked through it and saw the prices for the engines. I think I would get the $15,000 all iron 427. My question is: Does Shelby enterprises build these engines for the new Cobras? I would also like to know the HP and Torque these motors have. Also, is it a Shelby bottom end? One more question, what are the specs. on the camshaft you use.

Hi Mike,

We haven't quoted anyone on a full iron 427, so that must be something Newport Shelby Cobras would build for you elsewhere.

For not much more money than you are talking about, we could build you an FE with an iron block, Shelby aluminum heads, Shelby aluminum intake manifold, Shelby roller rockers, Shelby timing cover, Shelby water pump, etc., dynoed and tuned in-house on one of our dynos. You could purchase it through your Cobra dealer.

We do build engines for the new Cobras (literally hundreds to date) and have a wide array of them available. We have some standardized combinations, and we build custom engines to suit the customer's needs. We do everything from Holleys to Webers, various compression ratios, flat tappet or roller camshafts, cast or billet steel cranks, custom bore and/or stroke, and more.

Please contact us or your Cobra dealer for details!

Welcome, from Carroll Shelby

Have you noticed that it's tough finding quality performance parts to build a reliable FE engine? I have and I decided to do something about it by introducing my own line of Shelby FE™ performance parts. I worked with my design staff to build the best, because my name is on them. My racing legacy with FE performance engines extends back to my race winning 427 Cobras and GT-40 Mk.IV racers that won LeMans. Three decades later, my newer Shelby FE™ parts utilize proven design refinement to create FE performance parts for the new millennium.

My catalog illustrates an overall selection of parts available, but we can supply complete engines or parts from oil pan to carburetor to build your own Shelby 427 FE™ aluminum or cast iron engine just the way you want it. Call and speak directly to our engine department with your tech questions and orders. You have my name on it.
