You're quite right - the comments should have been directed towards the organisers of the event.

Jack Sears, Jochen Neerpasch, and Jochen Mass are attending the event. I have a feeling they will be able to add an "interesting dimension" to the book. :D

Indeed!

Here's Jack Sears in an AC Cobra CRS

Having recently observed Jack Sears drive an AC Cobra around a circuit in the UK, I can confirm that, as a sprightly 83 year-old, he's not forgotten where the loud pedal is! I should imagine he was a hard charger back in the day, as he's still very competitive....

On the matter of 'the book', many thanks to all those who hav been in touch - greatly appreciated. Nice to know I'm not doing it for myself :) However, we are currently considering delaying publication simply to add a few nice snaps from the Goodwood Revival, not least as there will be at least one German-based Cobra in the Shelby Cup race ;) and I think that event will round the year off nicely. So if nobody objects (or even if you do) there will be a delay before I arrive to empty your money boxes. We might also add around 40-ish pages to the book.

I guess that makes room for some 'older' pictures you've been saving up. ;)

The famous Ilford Trophy race in July 1964 comes to mind. Jack Sears was driving CS 2131 and was black flagged at the start of the race. He eventually caught up and overtook Jackie Stewart's E Type to win.

If you mean those 'wet-look' photos, Mr Snake...... :)

(and JS was driving 2131. He caught and passed 24 cars that day)

Yes, ones that could be mistaken as being snapped in the UK. :p

Perhaps 'london' is confused with 2121 being at auction with Mecum at Indy
1963 Shelby Cobra 289 Roadster CSX 2121 for sale by Mecum Auction

My typing again (now corrected!)

On that day, 'Gentleman Jack' metamorphosed into the automotive equivalent of the Incredible Hulk. I must get his biography.

If you insist on inviting me to attend Cobra gatherings on your fair continent, you must expect me to bring my own weather with me! And I did. We have had over a month of it 'over here' and still it rains.....and we've got a drought of course, which takes talent when everywhere is flooded :)

Let me think about that for a while....OK!
Cheers,
Glen

I just realized, little slow, that was the only year we had rain on the tour. Now I understand why...

Any book for me ?

Thank You RHM

Trevor Legate 05-09-2012 04:30 AM

Hi 3018

Still got space on the list! Drop me an email, (see earlier posting) or some reasonably safe method whereby I can make contact when the books exist and I'll drop everyone on my list an email
