Trevor Legate's New Book

Trevor Legate is writing a new book 'Cobra, The Story of an Icon.'

Only 289 copies of the 160 page book will be printed, so if you want one, you'll have to place your order at:

info@collectorscar.world.

The book will cost you 99 euros.

Trevor Legate 05-01-2012 12:15 PM

Hmmmm, sounds a tasty bargain to me....but I am a little biased

SunDude 05-01-2012 01:00 PM

Is this the same book I caught a whiff of back in Feb 2010...?

Nope. Totally different. It's in relation to the 50th Anniversary meeting in Germany June 22nd. Available from www.collectorscarsworld.com only.

Perhaps this is the link?

Sorry, typing with my thumbs in a hurry! As above ('car' not 'cars')

I would tell more but it's a work in progress and for obvious reasons, will not be completed until after the meeting! Will post more one day....otherwise, info as per the link. 12 x 12inches, 160 pages, 99 euros, 289 copies printed, not for general sales, lots of nice words and happy pics (mostly of Cobras!) What's not to like....

Hi Trevor, looking forward to another one of your books, my friend. Can you post the actual correct website? I'm getting warnings of "multiple threats detected" from collectorcarworld.com , so reluctant to chase it.
Cheers,
Glen

I could not find anything about the book on that website.

I just sent an email to info@collectorscar.world asking about how to order the book. That did not work.

I guess I'll try info@collectorcarworld.com next...

The trouble is, it's still very early days. I'm still working on it and will be well into July/August! Things are still in development (special leather edition etc) and far from set in stone. Ford are producing scans right now and I'm working with a really good designer. I have to say the layouts are looking good (he said modestly). I've had emails from a number of people asking me to reserve a copy. It's nice to know that there are acually folks out there who want a copy!! Kinda makes it all worthwhile! Anyone who wants to go into my unofficial 'reserve' list can email me on: tlegate@btinternet.com and I'll do my very best to make sure you get the info sent to you as and when they are actually printed and available. I'm guessing some time in September at best. (I currently have orders for seven books)

SunDude 05-04-2012 10:41 AM

Trevor, will the book focus strictly on commemorating the Dusseldorf gathering or will the scope be broader than that?

The third time is the charm (or was it the fourth time).

I got a response from Dr. Kay Hafner and gave him my contact info.

It's a 160-page book and around 40 pages will be about the meeting. Maybe. Depends how many cars rock up! The rest of the book covers the Cobra history (which is why I'm waiting for scans from Ford... :) I've unearthed some 'unseen' snaps as well! The saga ends in 1968-ish. The 50th meeting is for genuine Cobras and so is the book. Sorry to appear vague but, to repeat myself, it's a work in progress

Trevor,

Like the rest of the guys, looking forward to your next book. Sent an email, please put me on the list !

I think the organisers are missing a trick with this event. Why not ask someone like Rod Leach to attend with one of his genuine continuation Cobras. I'm sure he would add an interesting dimension to the book. Plenty has happened on the Cobra front since 1968!

Only Genuine Cobras. What about Real Cobras? And Original Cobras? :JEKYLHYDE

Vintage Thames Ditton Cobras only. :3DSMILE: Real Cobras originating from Brooklands, Frimley, Guildford (all UK), Malta, South Africa, Mexico and the US including those built on unused rusting chassis from the '60s will be barred. **)

Trevor Legate 05-06-2012 03:32 AM

Missing a trick????????? Is it me being thick or what? The meeting is for Shelby and AC Cobras (up to and including AC289 Sports) built between 1962 and 1968. How can anything else 'qualify' if it was not part of the original production run? Words fail me sometimes......if you want a gathering of replicas, go to Silverstone Cobra Village in July. Ask the Goodwood organisers if it's a clever idea to race replicas at the Revival. That should get a two-word response (ok, no need to get into semantics about 'clones'..)

The book will be a book about the Shelby AC Cobra (pre-1970)
