Default Top Five Selling Dealers: CSX 2000 Series Cobras

Listed below are the top five dealers (volume) of CSX 2000 Series Cobras from 1962-1965.

Coventry Ford (CA)..................25
Down Town Ford (CA)............. 18*
Hugus Euro Cars (PA)..............16
Hayward Ford (CA)..................13
Culver Mtrs(CA).........................9

High Performance Mtrs was not included as it was a dealership owned by CS and Ed Leslie that was a disposal site for used promotional and demonstrator cars from Ford field offices and, as such, did not sell new cars, as a rule.

*Down Town Ford merged with Burton Motors (10 & 8 cars sold, respecitively between these two dealers). Date of merger unknown.

Default Cal,

as I understand Coventry was NOT a Ford dealer but rather a VW, BMC and whatever Qvale was hawking at the moment dealer.
It was after the first year or so that Ford started to get the Ford dealer body involved as they wanted the traffic building virtues of the Cobra top be used by the Ford dealer body rather than CS's "band of buddies"

True. However, if you note from the data I sent, Coventry was selling cars into the 2400-2500 range--pretty much all the way to the end.

Cal,

Now that I think about it, there was a Ford dealership right next to Coventry Motors in Walnut Creek. They had a common display lot seperated by removeable stansions and a small chain.

They were likely run as seperate entities under a common umbrella.

Coventry Motors also was a dealer for Enzo's LIJs !! (little Italian jobs)
