Please help me to identify my cobra!

My name is Thomas Langstadlinger, I come from Austria and I have since a half year a Cobra Replica. I do not know until now what the company Cobra has built.
Key figures: Ford V8 385 Engine 460 cui, GFJ, coilover RMA, intake manifold carburetor, rims Edelbrock, cylinder head Edelbrook, Wildwood Brakes, MSD Ignition, MSD ignition distributor, Summit Racing alternator, VIN 6U65Z102184
Photos are in my album.
It would be very important to learn for myself, who has built my Cobra.

Your VIN is to a 1966 Ford Galaxie convertible built at the Louisville plant with a 4BBL 390. It was applied to your chassis to facilitate registration or perhaps to allow importation as an "oldtimer" with reduced tax and duty considerations.

That VIN will do nothing to I.D. your car and in fact could be a problem if the authorities discover that you do not have a 1966 Ford Galaxie convertible.

Why did you jump all over me in the other thread for saying that VIN showed the motor as coming from a 1966 Ford Galaxie? Here is your response in that thread. The D2AE block casting was used on most all of the 351 W engines in 72.

As for the other part I was wrong and admitted it. Why can't you do the same.

No jumping intended. Just stating that the block was used in a buttload of Fords and Mercurys.

My point was the VIN is for a Galaxie 390 convert. The block is certainly not a '66 390 but then the car is not a 1966 Galaxie either!

If you read that I was on you, I apologize. That was NOT the intention.

Thanks for the explanation. I was wrong about the Autocraft as I just forgot that it wasn't a Ford product and I did misinterpret what you said about the block number. I did agree that you can stick anything on a car and that doesn't make it a Ford or any other company product. And the 351 was used in so many cars and trucks it is hard to list them all. I use a 351 stroker in my Coupe.

As for the Torino Cobras, you are correct, except they only made a car called Torino Cobra in 1970. The 1969 Cobras were not Torinos but were made from 1968 Fairlane bodies that Hoilman Moody reworked and I have an original one that was special ordered for me. Ford only made them to get them certified for NASCAR, and Ford referred to them just as Fairlane Cobras or Cobras. My order sheet has it listed as a Fairlane Cobra. They did make Torino GTs in 1969 and you could order the 428 Cobra engine in them but not a lot of people did as they were quite a bit extra. There were just two og the GTs in this area and one had a 390 and the other a 351 and you could tell the difference in them and my Cobra from about as far away as you could see them if you knew what to look for.

I apologize for misinterpreting your earlier post and there are certainly no hard feelings.

Not sure from the pictures, but it could be a Contemporary Classics Motor Car. In the early 90's Peter Bayer was sending cars over to Germany on a contract. Maybe this car migrated to Austria and was one of those. Could not tell conclusively from the pictures. Just a thought.

Thanks, Bill. I hadn't seen the frame in the pictures. Dead give away that it is not Contemporary. Just remembered when mine was being built in 1991, it was delayed because the less than reputable dealer was building two for Germany and kept stealing my parts to stay on schedule for those deliveries.

(Note:Horrible dealer - fantastic company and product. Peter Bayer was a fantastic and honorable supplier. Stood behind his cars forever.)

I just received a reply from shell valley, because it was found that it could be a shell valley kit , but not with 100% security, because some things are different to.
Front and rear shock mounts, the frame seems to transition from a 2x4” main rail to a 2x3” by the engine, it appears there is a square bar tying the frame rails together behind the radiator where we use a round bar
