Question door hinges

I am having a lot of trouble hanging the doors on my Cobra replica. Unfortunatly I bought a body and chassis kit from a dealer who bought it from a builder who has gone out of business. So I have no help from the builder. Other kit manufactures hesitate to help me because I did not buy their product.

I need specific instructions on the location etc of the door hinges. Detailed photos would be of great help.

I have the same problem with the trunk lid and hood hinge installation.

Don,

Welcome to CC and the madness.

You need to let us know what manufacture the kit is.

Post any pictures that you have if you do not know the manufacture (and even if you do, we like pictures). There are many manufactures and I am sure almost as many different hinge configurations.

If you could get a picture of what you have to attach hinges to we might be able to help. Don't despair door hinges are a trick for alot of them and the solution is here.

Default door hinges

I will send a picture of the chassis.

I will need your e-mail address.

The vertical member just in front of the door opening is the obvious place to attach the hinges. But just exactly where and how has me stumped.

Thanks for attempting to help.

Well, being new to CC I do not know how to post picures.
The kit was manufactured by "Kit Cars To Go' In south Carolina. (Since gone under) They are no help. I bought the hinges and much more from Hanes Hot Rods and Parts somewhere out west.
If I can figure out how to send pictures I will. Maybe I need your e-mail address.
Thanks for trying to help.

I'll get you a few hinge pics up. My e-mail is streetcobra@roadrunner.com
I was just talking hinges with a couple of the guys from CC here this morning at Cobra breakfast. With fibreglass bodies which is what a lot of people are using the material is thicker and usually has a good return for strength. That makes it hard to move the hinge point out and back far enough without needing big hoop hinges to clear on opening. Big hoop hinges are a pain in the knee!

Here's the parts, hinge bracket on car, hinge and hinge plate on door.

All installed on a car on the back of the cowl hoop.
