Getting ready to order oil cooler...Correct parts?
I am getting ready to order an oil cooler for my 347 engine. Here is the parts list...I think I have everything covered but would appreciate some input in case I missed something...
1. AN -10 SS line 10’ 2. Aeroquip AN-10 90 degree fitting (FBM4024) 3. Aeroquip AN-10 45 degree fitting (FBM4034) 4. Aeroquip AN-10 Male to Male (FBM2054) 5. Earls Oil Thermostat Sandwich (502ERL) 6. Mocal Oil Filter (from Finishline) I think I have everything I need here….Correct?? Thanks for any help you can provide! |

One thing needs to be mentioned here. It's a nice idea to have a braided hose cutter available if you don't want to use a hack saw or large shears but remember to wrap the hose at the cut point with one or two layers of masking tape first. The tape will prevent the wire braids from unraveling at the cut point when you cut. Cut in the middle of the tape wrap and both sides of the cut will remain nice and neat. I have actually left the tape in place when installing the hose ends which helps get all the braided ends inside the fitting where they belong. One item radelow didn't mention was a bottle of lube to use when assembling the fittings. Of course, motor oil could be used in place of the assembly lube but I just prefer the lube.

Using the cutter from the above posts,it is not neccessary to wrap the hose at the cut,the way the cutter is made it "pulls/bends" the wire ends inward....
makes it very easy to install, that's why I quit using other methods of cutting braided hoses and went to this cutter.... Although the tape is not needed, it will not hurt to use it and is a good idea for someone that has not used this type of tool much.... David |
Wow less than half the money for the same thing. Time to call them on the low price guarantee and then order from Speedway cos they were doing it right the first time.

Sometime ago,I was changing out some old soft brake lines on an early Mustang for a guy,he showed me the ones he wanted in the Summit catalog,I think the pair of braided stainless soft lines were around 60 bucks for the pair,checked with Day and ordered the exact length I needed for 10 bucks a brake line and had them the next day...... Speedway is kinda slow on their shipping, so don't be in a hurry.... David |
If you're going to be doing a moderate number of braided hose assembly this is worth the price.
