Default Broken door latch

Repaired.

I just finished repairing my drivers door latch using Wade's repair guide.

http://www.tmctechnologies.com/cobra...atchRepair.htm

This is the second time in 3 years my latch has failed. The previous time I bought a new latch at a cost of $60.00. Total cost of repair $0.42. It took about a hour. I'm slow.

Thanks Wade.

Mike

This is an excellent repair for the latch. I did mine when they were new to avoid the "problem". Nice cheap easy fix that lasts!

My door latch was a different problem, the fix I'll share. My pax side knob busted off. Since the knob itself is brass or a metal in which you can't weld, instead of trying to drill and tap the little knob, I went to Home Depot and got a chrome drawer pull. I had to get a 1/2" flat head 8-32 machine screw, lock washer and screw cover. If anybody wants a picture I can download. It looks better now with the slightly larger knob than the original one made overseas. I have the same latch as the one everybody sells...Shell Valley, Finish Line, etc. I think I'll go get a second setup so when the driver side fails, I'll have a match ready to install.
