Default 427 air cleaner filter

Does anyone know where I could buy just the air filter for a 427?
It is 8” in diameter

Since it's not the original style S & H element, you might look at K&N filters for one in the same size. Cleanable and high air flow. They also do custom sizes if not already produced.

What Larry said. I used the K&N filters on my cars and they will make a custom size. Also better air flow and can be cleaned and used over and over.

Take the filter into a Napa store. They should be able to match it up.

Default K&N 8.25 air filter part numbers

The K&N filter, I am using is E-1015. The E-2570 is 8.1 inches X 2 inch. The E-1015 is 8.5 inches X 2.5 inch. How much room do you have under hood? The larger the air filter, the greater the ammount of air flow. Very important for a BB!

This K&N is closer to the original sizing both diameter/height. 8.1"diameter and 1.88" in height.

KNN-E-2570

If you significantly improve the air flow, and you have a vacuum secondary carburetor, then you will need to recalibrate the spring/opening of your secondary system. There are a zillion threads out there where the enthusiast invests in a nice, new high-flowing K&N system and then complains that it has "robbed him of performance" and that the system sucks. He then puts back on his old system and shuts up. Of course, he was "robbed" because he effectively went from a four barrel carb to a two barrel carb.

I seriously doubt that's the case A little more liberal use of the right foot and it will clear right up.
