Default Location of MSD 6 Box

I have determined two locations for my MSD 6 box. One is on top of the passengers footwell and the other is on passengers side of firewall behind the dash on the passenger side of the car. Whci should I choose? The location on top of the footwell is in the engine compartment and much easier to access wiring points and shorter wire runs. The downside may be the heat from the engine. I do have the alumimum heat shields around the header pipes to help reduce heat to the footboxes. The inside the car / under the dash location would be cooler but more difficult to mount (not too many smooth locations) and to wire and swap out if needed. Which location should I select?

Cooler and dryer is better. May take you more work to install, but create greater realiability and save you work later.

I once had mine mounted inside the engine compartment. I had mine go bad on me and it was a direct result of the heat. Mine is now located under the dash above the passenger foot box.

Default I put everything inside....

Above the passenger footbox is where I mounted the MSD ignition, MSD spark advance/retard box, Starter solenoid and voltage regulator. Nothing under the hood....also not much more room left inside.

I do not have a heater etc. , or might not have been able to fit it all there.

Mine sits on top of the passenger foot box inside the engine compartment. (That's the driver's side to you guys).
Never had a problem in 12,000 miles, including some classic UK wet weather driving.

Mind you, I only have a tiny block, so I suppose the miniscule amount of heat it emits (couple of candles-worth tops) wouldn't affect the MSD anyway

One thing I did fit was the MSD-supplied capacitor across the feed lines, to stop any voltage spikes from affecting the MSD as I pull the battery isolator switch key. Seems to work fine.
