Needing Alignment Specs
Hey guys,
I am ready to get the Cobra aligned. The place nearby that does them says their machine only goes back to 1980. :rolleyes: Can anybody give me some numbers that can get me started? My car is an Everett Morrison. I have Mustang II front suspension with manual rack. The springs have been cut down to get ride height correct, and they are coil overs. (I don't know what all info you might need). The rear is straight axel, Ford 8" with Leaf Springs. I am using 15"X 8" rims all the way around with 235/60/r15's Is this enough info ??? Thanks RZ |
Go to a different alignment shop. If they do alignments only by the book's number's for that particular chassis, they don't really know what they are doing. Since you have a straight axle rear, they are only doing a front job.
Toe...depends, but none is a good place to start caster....as much as they can, up to 5 or 6 degrees camber... depends on "track" or "street" more=better cornering but uneven tire wear, this may come down to tire rub anyway. These are very rough guidelines, but I suggest finding somebody who better knows what they are doing(front end setup) than myself or the dude at the tire shop you went to. Good luck |
Go to a shop that does street rods and custom cars they can align your car with out the specs.

Try a different alignment shop. The spec's you want are factory '76 - '78 Mustang II, except you want your caster angle equal on both sides but somewhere between 3 and 6 degrees, the closer to 6 the better.
If you're lucky, your alignment will stay put. MII alignment was not one of Fords' better ideas. If not, bethania-garage.com has a pair of brackets for the MII that let you align with shims, like GM cars, and it stays put afterwards. ($100) |
